Wow, your insurance is really giving you the run around.

I am through state farm. I called the cops when it happened and that was it with that. I let state farm agent know and then gave them 3 estimates. They looked over the car pretty quick. They wanted to total it, I said I wanted to keep it and that was it. I drove the car the whole time. It was always in my possession. Within a few days I received a check for like a few thousand and that was it. I picked a small shop out and told them just to fix a few things and pocketed the rest.

IDK if that's legal but thats what I did. It was my car I should be able to choose what I want to do with it.

Weirdest thing of all is that I bought it with a salvage title...idk how that works or how a car can be totaled out twice and then able to drive again...thats how i got the car cheap in the first place.

Legally your supposed to have it inspected and you than have it registered under a Rebuilt Title (at least that's how it works in MI). A salvaged titled car isn't legal to be driven on public roads.

i live in MI too. All you have to do is show the car is driveable and get the salvaged title turned into a rebuilt title.

Yup I was telling him they don't care about what lights are on the dash or any of that BS except that it's in running order.

Ok....so I called to double check with the field adjusters manager (since you guys got me paranoid, now!), and he said the same thing. The car will be legal to drive right off the bat, but I can only get liability on it till I get it fixed, and show the agent. That's fine by me. So long as it's street legal, and insurable. I just need it to get me by till I figure out what I'm going to do.

I drove it home tonight. Just got in a bit ago. She's pulling to the left noticeably, but everything else actually feels fine. No noises, no wobbling, not jerking back and forth, etc. Hopefully, all it needs is an alignment. I will drive it to and from work tomorrow (so long as she cooperates), and get it checked out Saturday. If all it needs is an alignment, I'll get that done immediately so I can have the piece of mind that I have a reliable, safe car for a while. Then I can take my time with hammering out the final price on this whole ordeal.

I'll take some pics tomorrow or Saturday so you can see the extent of the damage.
