    E85 is cheaper than 89

And I'd like to see your car vs a 3.4 header E85 car my guess is it wouldnt be pretty..........

    E85 + a 3.4"...would be...a totally stock car besides the gas choice and pulley/tune?

It probably wouldn't make the same numbers. With the DP/U-Bend it'd still be pretty restricted, IMO. Would it be a decent race? Maybe.

But regardless, the cam/heads car would still pull up top. He replaced the big draw back of these engines: the valvetrain.

No I meant 3.4 pulley E85 and headers with open cone to support the 3.4 pulley should have said that in the other post.
I wish I could find more dyno numbers of that setup. IIRC Orangel67 did something like that and I believe it made over 300 HP and TQ.
Which goes back to what 99prixgt said better results less mods and less money.........

Not as useable on the street.

    Magic and straight pipes apply.

I over-guessed a little bit. Not too bad of numbers from a stock pulley/injectors...with a cam/heads/DP. It'll really pick up some power up top IMO when you swap injectors...especially if you said they were running static @ 5100~.

Only thing I wouldn't do again is run a double roller...I killed the gear on mine...probably due to stupid low idle speed....but I'd just run a stock chain + some 130's and a higher idle next round.
    What DR did you run?

There is a gain going with 150# springs over 130's on the XPZ...I'm probably no seeing it at this level though.

I'm not real comfortable using 130's on a stock chain. I'm doing it on my 01, but it's not something I'd feel comfortable running for 50k miles without looking at it. I have about 10k miles on the chain in my 01, so we'll see what it looks like when I pull it out in the winter.

Iraqtard you are arguing for completely diff things. So what he doesn't have headers. For what he is using the car for its a great running car and frankly he will for what he pleases with his own car. You now are arguing power. Must have missed the part were he states it's a mustang dyno. In which the shop itself calls the dyno "the dream crusher" in which it reads 20%+ lower than the dynojet in the same town. This car would freight train a 3.4/e85 setup. Get a new hobby.

No, it's not cheaper to run. E85 winds up being more expensive.

Since we're comparing things that have nothing in common, I'd also like to say that a H/C spray LS1 camaro would walk me from a 50 roll as well.

I don't think you understand what a PITA it is to drive as much as I do with an E85 car.

But with headers you'd be able to walk that camaro, right?

Right...I thought 130's were a tougher spring anyways...or at least harder on the chain. Can't recall.

I ran LS6's on my XP for about 40k~ and the stock dampner was ate to pieces. Chain was still fine though. Reptile and Trannyman Dave @ TEP ran 130's on a Overkill BBC Custom grind cam for well over 20k. They were fine...guessing higher idle speeds for sure...I think reppy's was around 900~. I'm not saying the aftermarket chains are bad, I just haven't heard of any stock chain failures when used correctly...but then again, I've heard good things from the aftermarket chains working as well. Just hit and miss I suppose?

    This.

And actually...around here...E85 isn't much cheaper than 87/89 in most places.

You gotta roll out to BFE to get it cheap. Which then, isn't very cost effective.

That's what I did on this car as well. It's at stock idle now...which reminds me. I had intended to raise it about 100rpms.
Maybe the gear you got had some defect to it, that it caused problems.

I ran LS6's on my 01 for about 10k miles as well, before swapping over to 130's. So, there's about 20k on the chain and dampner total...maybe just a little more. It'll be interesting to see how it looks when I pull it apart. I have idle on there turned up maybe 100rpms as well, iirc. There are a few different dampners that are available for these motors, and I don't have too much research done on them, but it looks like some are better than others. Actual GM dampners may possibly be better. Just about every Cloyes dampner in a motor that I pull apart is broken.

I don't know what your trying to prove here, im just asking why because your setup dosen't make any sense. My top swap'd gt made 250whp on a mustang dyno, stock pulley just a gen5 top swap with roller 1.9's on 93 pump with HEADERS. Why did you go through All the work swaping a cam, springs etc etc if your not going to pulley down?

Could be...who knows...when I get home, I'll post the PB vids I've got of it when the front cover got ripped off to look at the clattering noise.

Yeah, I was running Manley 130's with Ti Retainers...had O/R pushrods with stock rockers. I know the Thrasher is slightly larger lift wise than the XPZ...you got a cam card for it by chance?

Not sure on the Cloyes ones...

I ran an actual GM one...tossed it in there with the stock timing chain at the time of the XP install. Someone needs to machine a billet dampner, maybe that would help? I also didn't know there were "other options", unless you were just meaning different brands/producers?
