    I was doing 63 over 50.

Just had new parts installed in my car, suspension system, fuel lines, brake lines, front brakes, tryrod, a/c bypass. So I have court on the first of April and I'd like to plead innocent and claim that my car has just had all these new parts installed the day before and that it is running much faster and smoother now and I didn't even notice how fast I was going. Would this be something that may be able to get it reduced to a few parking tickets/fines?

    Yeah...two options.

    1) Slow down.

    2) Pay a lawyer to get the ticket removed.

Man up and pay the ticket. You were speeding, you broke the law so get it over with.

Damn, first a burnout thread and now this. Sounds like you need something slower. Like an 80's merc diesel non turbo.

I'd say an Ecotec or 3100/3400 GA is slow enough.

Won't work. They will tell you (and rightfully so) that you should watch your speed and drive safely regarding of any changes on the car. If your speedo were off, you might have a chance. Can you do defensive driving? You will get an insurance discount too.

You can hire an attorney, but it is likely you will get deferred adjudication. That means you pay the fines and don't get another ticket for 60, 90, or 180 days. If you do, you are hosed. You will also pay your attorney.

Neither is cheap, but those are pretty much your options.

You can go to court and represent yourself trying to fight, but the odds are not great and if you lose, you could lose big.

you walk in and say any of that stuff and the judge will max your fines out on you. you still have a working speedometer right? heres your fines.

slow down, man up and pay the ticket. or pay for a lawyer to talk for you. because we all know that a man who represents himself in court is a fool and has a fool for a client.

the way i see it is, when you show up for court with a lawyer they always get the fines lowered or points reduced or dropped all together. but lawyers are not cheap.

Well I've had my share of tickets so far lol. Just showing up in court does a lot imo. I don't think a lawyer's worth it unless you just absolutely CAN'T risk anything else on the driving record due to insurance ro whatever your reason. All but 1 of my tickets got reduced and thrown off the record. I still paid fines.. but they didn't go on the record. SO if this is all you got going, just show up in court and play it out. You were only 13 over. Beats the hell out of my 84 in a 65, or my 72 in a 55. Believe it or not the 42 in a 35 is what stuck on the record.

Anyway, keep us posted. If you have money to throw at a lawyer then you'd probably pay him the total amount of fines and owe the system nothing. It's all what you wanna do. I even got letters in the mail lawyers asking to represent me HAHA

You broke the law...prepare to pay up...your not getting out of a speeding tickets without paying for a lawyer and even then its not worth it. Next time obey the speed limit and not worry about getting a ticket

First ticket? Fight it yourself and deal with the ~100 buck fine. If its not your first then lawyer it.

oh i forgot this deal the courts here will offer, its a one time deal for people who have no points at all, they double the fine, but no points.

no lawyer needed for this deal to happen, its up to the judge if he wants to offer it to you. they make more money with this deal, so if you were nice to the cop it may come up.

Two things... You know someone in LE, or get a Lawyer. Never... NEVER admit to anything to a judge. You wanna fight, go to court, plead innocent, it is your right, but you'll get screwed! It's all about the $... You'll go there and the officer will be there who wrote ticket or the DA. Either way, they will probably plea it down to seatbelt or whatnot. Take the deal if offered. There are a few ways to fight, but the path of least resistance is to swim with all the fish and not stick out! Lolz...

ha. well I got really lucky, I've learned and I most definitely paid up. I've paid... little over $300 for those two tickets I think. Never said I wasn't wanting to take responsibility, lol **** broke my bank. BUT one learns and moves on, just always get caught speeding on those damn road trips. I've done pretty good with a 5 over limit

thats nothing. i had 18 points with in 2 years of getting my lic, lost it for 4 years, had over 2000 in fines or more. and 4 grand in surcharges to get it back, so like 6 grand or more.

the icing on the cake is that you think i would have learned, but i lost all them points then maxed it back up again, 12 points here and its gone. cleared them points up, you loose 3 a year after a year point free. in total i have gotten and lost 48 points on my lic. im currently points free for the last 7 years. yes,

i finally grew up. took till almost 40 to get there lol

You were doing 63 in a 50 or it was a 50 and you were doing 113?

If you were doing 113 then be thankful you weren't arrested on the spot. And get ready because your probably going to loose your license.

I you were doing 63 then just say you were keeping up with traffic and didn't realize you were going that fast. We're something nice to court and hope the judge cuts you a break.

Swiggles asked my question. If it was 63 in a 50, show up and they'll hand you a deal unless you are on a first name basis.

Wait.. did I miss something. Since when can a GA break the speed limit?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
