Ok so my accessory tensioner pulley completely gave out broke into bits. I went out and bought a new one and put it on no problem. Now here's my problem... I've never changed a serpentine belt or and belt before for that matter. I can route it around the pulley's and all that just fine but i can't get the tensioner to move to get the belt all the way on. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? When anyone mentions changing a belt they gloss over the process of how this is managed. Mine doesn't seem to want to move so I can slid the belt on. Someone please help. I'd like to drive my car instead of take it to the shop and get raped.

I'm not sure but I'm thinking maybe i'm not strong enough or I need to get a kit or tool to do the job. How much force is usually needed to move it? I used all my weight on it and it didn't budge instead the whole car just rocked. Which direction should the tensioner move? Towards the front of the car or the back? I read it's supposed to move towards the back. I'd like the think it's something I'm doing wrong and not that I might need a new tensioner.

There is a square hole on the tensioner that fits a ratchet. Get your ratchet in there and use it to move the tensioner and get the belt on. You can use a small pipe on the ratchet to make it easier if needed.

Yes that is right..usually the tensioner will only move one way...the way you need to go...Good luck!
