Back in December, actually it was New Years eve, the GP died and would only idle for just a few minutes before shutting down. I troubleshot (with the help of the community here) the issue to the CPS. I had never replaced that before myself. It had went bad when I first bought the car, but had a shop replace it for me.

Well URLOSN was on instant messenger and I talked to him about the process. He stayed on the instant messenger with me until the wee hours (we actually took a break to watch the ball drop) to walk me through all that needed to be done and was constantly encouraging me that I could do the work and it would be fine once it was all done.

Sure enough it was. I dont know why such a take bothered me so, but it did. Without the help of URLOSN and his knowledge and encouragement I probably would have never got it done myself. He saved me some money from having to take it to a shop (I would have had to have it towed there too).

He has been a superb friend to me, a great source of knowledge and help and continues to be so.

I wanted to thank Jacob for his time, patience, and dedication toward helping a fellow GPer out!

I had quite a few things that were time consuming, but needed to get done on my GTP (coupler, LIM/VC/Supercharger/TB gaskets, o-rings). However, I was not comfortable doing them myself. I asked Jacob through PMs if he might have time to show me how to do the stuff. In a quick and friendly response, he said he would be more than happy to help me out (he even offered to drive up to Wisco to help me out).

Well, I went down there yesterday - and not only did Jacob spend a great deal of time (almost 12 hours) out of his day showing me how to do the work, but he was also very friendly and patient towards a newb like me. I really can't emphasize enough how much this guy is committed by going way above and beyond. We used all of his tools and equipment, and he even paid for a few other things that we needed! He also really cared about his work, and gave me a follow up call today to make sure everything is running well. Although it took awhile (we took breaks), I seriously learned a lot about the 3800 engine, and the break down of a GTP. He is very knowledgable about Grand Prix's, and also about mechanics and performance in general.

Further, as some of you know, I have a problem of a low creaking noise when turning right with what I thought was my suspension. I paid a GM Tech $100 labor to install a new GMPP sway bar (that's what he troubleshooted), and do a complete inspection on the car. That $100 didn't fix anything... in fact, he didn't even re-torque my cradle bolts. However, Jacob's knowledge and troubleshooting threw an entire new perspective on the situation that the lower motor mount might be bad. We have planned to swap it out with his old one in a few weeks to hopefully fix the problem. If that's not it, I'm sure Jacob will be determined to figure out what it is as he is very dedicated.

Long story short, Jacob (URLOSN) is an extremely helpful and knowledgable guy that is really committed to these cars and the community. I am really glad I took the drive down to Rockford to meet him, and really look forward to going down there in the future for help and also going to car shows and the track.

I nominate Jacob for Quarterly Community Hero! Thanks a lot man!

Another thank you to Jacob. I went out there today and replaced the fuel filter and lower motor mount. My old motor mount was in pretty bad shape! Once again, Jacob is a great asset to the community!

Our next project is lower control arm bushings! wooot.

Another thank you to Jacob - I went down there today and he gave me a MAF sensor and found out that it's my front oxygen sensor that's likely bad. Thus - 17mpg woo hoooo! haha. I need to change that. He also upped my shift points and turned the fans on.

    Thanks again man.
