Recently replaced my 2002 Grand Prix GT PCM due to a chronic issues. PCM was removed from a salvage vehicle. My question is, how does one go about having the PCM updated with my current vehicle information.

PCM shows 4 door with a different VIN than what my 2 door is. Hopefully this isnt something I need to go to the dealership for

    Thx
    Ed

Why would anything need to change??

Assuming it's from another 2001-2002 car, nothing needs to be done at all. They all run the same software aside from minor things like a car with an air pump for cali emissions.

So I can go to a savage yard (pull a part) find a car that resembles mines, take all the modules off, add them to my car without reprogramming.

Yeah, thats not what anyone is saying.

The PCM from a similar year can be swapped without doing anything else. There are certain year PCM's that were year only though or that only work in certain years. 97 is year only. 98's run a different style maf so that might be different. 99-00 are the same. 01-02 are the same and 2003 is year only.
