Sorry if this has been brought up before, but a search didn't show any results.

Has anyone tried using an AVT box to connect to DHP? AVT is the company that built all the hardware for DHP, and still produces newer versions of it all...including a USB version...for $260. I seriously thinking about trying it out, but I was wondering if anyone else had tried it. Originally DHP shipped out the AVT 838, a few places say they sent out 841's at the end. The 852 is the USB version, which is what I'd try and get. I'd just hate to shell out $260 and get nothing out of it...

    Any input?

I got one about three weeks ago. Got the 852. Works great. no problems and they're shipping and customer service there was amazing. Contact Mike at support@avt-hq.com. He's the one that helped me. Sent my box out an hour after i emailed him about it. Just told him what i wanted and paid and he was on it.

theres maybe two threads about this box.

this is the first thread where someone said for 100% sure it works and with DHP.

    This.

I think sometimes we forget that even though there are only a couple people commenting on a thread, there could be a bunch of people watching just to see how it turns out. If I had seen conformation of this setup working for someone else, I would have strongly considered this over HPT.

It's kinda nice when you see someone who was working their way through a difficult problem report back when they figure it out. Or, on the flip side, how frustrating is it when you see an old thread where someone else was having the same problem you are, and they just disappear with no solution. How many times have you seen a thread end with "I'm having the same problem. Did you ever get it fixed?"

I didn't recognize the guy that said he had one, the thread was made by snowflake, so it is probably wise to take the info with a grain of salt.

That and Dark Horizon is the only guy offering support for DHP (right?), and he said it wouldn't work. That's one of the reasons I was skeptical.

there is plenty of support for dhp. if you need something, just ask. and as far as DH is concerned, this is one case where his information was incorrect.

we have dhp bins, dhp tuning guides, dhp software, and dhp tuning applications. if you pm me your email address I will send you a drop box link for everything I have

Looks like I'll be holding off on this for a few weeks, I had to spend my DHP $ on a new rack. Damn.

It does work... its just that the dhp software wont activate without the dhp code in the firmware. Avt will sell the box with the firmware included that supports the activation.

I have bought many avt 852s in the last few years.

Scott.. can you please elaborate on what you said. Does that mean you need to update the firmware on the AVT or there's an easier way around it?

There are a few ways to get over the activation... flashing firmware is one of them.

Every avt box ive gotten or heard of anyone getting has the required activation code.
