Any idea why my PCM wouldn't take an upload? I obtained my first read, modified fans/coolant only, uploaded to PCM, re-read to make sure it took. Second read states the modified temps but my scanner and fans (actions of vehicle) states that factory settings are still in charge. Ie. fans kicking on at 212 (factory setting). I even left vehicle with no batter/power over night.

Am I missing something. I hope I'm just missing a stupid easy step or something. Thanks for any help.

    Thanks,

Not missing anything... I would just make sure that you flashed the right file with your changes first... I have flashed over 1000 times and never had it "not take" like that.

Hum? Yeah, I'll double check but I'm sure I did. Do I need to do a "full" flash the first or any subsequent attempts?

I attempted an upload today and disconnected my battery after while I'm at work. We'll see. I'm hoping I just made a stupid mistake a few days ago.

    Thanks for your help.

Same here, Ive had a few weird issues with upload failure and "unsupported file" etc. Never a "successful upload" but were the file I uploaded changed in the ECU or didnt work. Also, why are you disconnecting the batt. after uploading?

Battery thing was to reset fuel trims because I didn't trust the tuner to do it after the temp not taking.

The tuner is uploading as far as I can tell. I even read it last night and it states my modified temps but I was monitoring it and the fans kicked on at 212 and off at 208. That's stock.

I'll try a full write tonight for the first time. I'm hoping it just needs a full write and then partials after that. I'm still open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance y'all!

Does DHP have a "write calibration only" option?

Because that all I have to do with my HPT.

Interesting to hear that Scott. I only do full writes on DHP.

    Cam, yes it does.

If you guys need supported bins etc. Send me a pm with your email, I'll hook you up. Thanks to Scott and a couple years of bin whoring, I think I have almost every DHP supported bin.

what fan settings are you adjusting anyway? You should be in fan_1_coolant_temp, and your high turn on setting should be somewhere between 71 and 82*c depending on your T-stat. Also are you sure your primary fan works and your not hearing fan 2 kicking on at the stock 108*c setting?

full writes are only used when switching operating systems or something. If you are updating anything else a partial write is all that is needed. The operating system is stored on the bulk of the memory, a small part holds constants.

Fan_1_coolant_temp and number two are the lines being changed. As for fan one or two coming on, both the left and right fans kick on right at 212* ferenheight per my Torque app. The fans are a high low set up not a left and right set up, right? I just want to be sure I'm expecting to see/feel the right stimuli.I was advised to try to type in my VIN as the guy had some issue similar to mine in the past and manually entering helped. I sure hope it does. The last thing I want is to be stuck with one tune for EVERY situation/season.

the vin wont shouldn't have anything to do with it not using the settings if there was a vin conflict it wouldn't start. lets start from the basics.

What year make model do you have? and osid of the bin or upload/link to the bin if possible.
What specific lines are you changing in the bin? screen shot or type word for word the table your changing.

I to have never had an issue where i successfully uploaded a bin and a setting not transfer. Are your fans set up correctly? IE are both fans connected in the stock configuration or has someone before you or yourself rewired them to operate at the same time? before i had a tuner i ran my 2nd fan off a relay connected to the first. but with the tuner i no longer needed to do this and set it all back to stock

So, tonight I "read" my PCM. The first clue was my VIN had lower case text in it. At that que, I checked the rest of the calibration file and the file is identical to my scan I uploaded. What a concept?! I mentioned this in my first post that the temps seem to have uploaded.

What else could cause the difference? Do the fans function on a high/low type switch or is it actually a fan 1 and fan 2 type switch?

    TIA

I have followed the instructions to the T. My next thought was about the aftermarket alarm that was installed. It controls the locks, trunk, and auto start. I went back to Best Buy and he said it "should" be "t'd" off the data line and therefore shouldn't effect this. Question, if it was improperly installed in-line in between the PCM and BCM or between the OBDII and the BCM or between the OBDII and the PCM would that effect it as the BCM controls the cooling fans? I am in process of tracking this immobilizer down under my dash to be sure it is in fact "t'd" off properly but in the mean time, what do you think?
My theory makes sense to me. Am I too far off?

    TIA,
    Slim

    1. Upload your current modified .bin file to Free large file hosting. Send big files the easy way!
    2. Upload your last scan to Free large file hosting. Send big files the easy way!
    3. Post the links to each upload one here, we should be able to help you out much better that way.
