I was wondering if you had to do any x-tra tuning on an xp cam install.
Other than changing the shift points and idle settings.
I have a DHP 1.0, and other than increasing the shiftpoints.
I haven't really done anything else to my tune.

It's gonna make a big difference. You basically can't run a stock type tune with a cam setup. The engine is gonna demand more fuel than the PCM is ready to give up.
Your going to have to do a maf tune for sure. Adjust the idle to your preference. Case learn it. Just watch the nb o2's (not the best way) to make sure you don't run lean. Should probably be around 920's depending on what you air temp is where you're located.
Me and reptile basicly have it covered. You will notice a Majior difference with this cam for sure.
Can't say I would recomend doing this but i've had the rpm's up to right at 7000 and I have never felt the cam stop pulling any. Xp is the way to go for a moderate setup.
Zzp recommends this:A PCM with raised shift points (6400) and rev limiter (6800) is recommended
I have my shift points set at 6300 right now.
According to the local member doing my tune.
He claims our stock crank pulley can't handel shift points that high.
Does anybody know if this is true??
Yeah I know what zzp recomends but you're going to be cutting a lot of your motors life away when you shift it at 6800 or 7000. I'm sure your not going to be hitting 7000 every time you drive the car but you know what I mean.
Thats why usually I change the performance shift rpm's from the normal.
As far as the crank pulley and even flywheel ect. There not rated for 7000 rpm's. Typically on any car you have to get SFI approved items if you want to spin those kind of rpm's safely. Does everyone do that? no. Do most people? no. Have I hit 7000 many times? yes. Has anything gone wrong? no. Can it the next time I do it? sure.
See where i'm going?
Good suggestion. I was at a 3.2 pulley with the stock cam and at 86% injector duty. So some 42.5's may be in order.
I would say so..... anything above 80...look into bigger.
Went out to do bit of more tuning last night.
To clear things up a local memeber is doing the tuning!
Came back dissapointed.
We did a quick scan and it showed up to 2* kr.
I think i saw the timing runing @ about 19*.(Weather about 80*)
So we went in to change the torque settings on my tune, using the jerrys book.
Guess what, i got more kr, 3-4*.
02's were around 920-940.
Ltfs and stfs were perfect too.
He did get my shift points dial in and the speeds to shift.
Don't know, don't know.![]()
Neatless to say i'm already getting tired of putting up with my car.
No matter what i add to remove the kr, it comes back and hunts me.
If i traped 100mph with 17* of timing.
If i remove timing i'm only going to run slower.
The car will be in the classifieds this week end.
