When you get your HP Tuners setup, hook it up and scan while you drive with your INTENSE PCM. Keep an eye on your short and long term fuel trims, and also the B1S1 O2 sensor's voltage readout. If you see the O2 sensor voltage go high (above 0.800v) and stay there AND at the same time you see your short term fuel trim (STFT) and/or long term fuel trim (LTFT) go way into the positive and stay there, then your CAT and post-cat O2 diagnostics were NOT properly disabled in the INTENSE programming.

You just need to watch the voltage on the front O2 (B1S1).

I am confused. I have a 2002 Monte Carlo but running a 2000 Monte Carlo bin file. I put a plug in my rear O2 bung and set the code to not report and not be active. Would that cause issues? Should I set it to active but not report?

Let us know if the Intense PCM disabled it for you cause im thinking of getting one of the PCMs from them. Thanks :)

The 2000 Monte Carlo programming should NOT have this diagnostic test active. GM did not add the post-cat and post-cat O2 diagnostics that cause these rich running issues until 2001 model year (programming).

How about me? I have a 2000 chevy impala with a 2004 chevy impala ss bin for my l67 swap. Overkill turned the code off i think for my rear 02 sensor and i dont have it plugged in but the 02 sensor is still in there though.

Turning the code off doesn't disable the diagnostic. It shouldn't matter what PCM you have, it matters what year the OS is that is in your PCM. If the entire calibration overkill put into your 2000 PCM is from a 2004, then it should have this diagnostic active unless overkill has found a way to completely disable it.

any one figure this out yet??? just picked up a 01 gtp and want cat gone..

Rumor has it that there is a version of TinyTuner floating around out there that can disable the cat diagnostics in some OS's. I have yet to find this version but I've heard some people talking about it. Keep in mind this feature isn't available in all OS's TinyTuner supports; and as there are many OS's available for any given make and model year of V6 car, it is likely your OS doesn't have this feature supported (in the TinyTuner software).

So, what I would recommend you do is just use 2000 model year programming in your PCM. I know several people have done this and haven't had any issues so it would probably be the best thing to do for now. The cat diagnostic issues didn't show up until 2001-newer V6 programming; so 2000 model year shouldn't have it enabled.

I would have to look it up when I get home, but the 02 file that has TONS of stuff unlocked, will allow you to disable the cat test. The commonly used 01 file is not compatable.

If you have a 03 trans, you are not able to swap to a 00pcm, so you may have to experiment with tiny tuner to find which file has access to the cat test.

thanks for for updates guys... i have hpt so im kind of screwed... Im going tonight to buy a 00 gtp.. so my 01 is up for sale.. (lol just bought it sat)..

you can use tinytuner with hpt... but as I said you probably have the "wrong" 01 file.

So if a guy only has HP Tuners, how is he supposed to open a .hpt tune file with TinyTuner? Do you have a version of TinyTuner that can do this?

Not sure but I think you just need a bin file for your car, edit it with Tiny tuner and only use hptuners to write the bin file to the car? It's been a while but I think that's what Eddie does, he only uses hptuner for scanning and writing, uses tiny tuner for editing.

IIRC:

You'd have to get a pre 2.0 version of HPT to do that.

Around when that release came out, HPT guys got all protective of their "proprietary format" and wanted to "keep it secure", "like the competitors".

HP Tuners is VIN, OSID, and PCM Serial Number locked among other things unless you have purchased the unlimited vehicle license for the specific model year of car and type of engine you are working with.

If you have only used 2 credits to license your car/vin, I doubt you are going to be able to flash your PCM with a different .bin file unless that .bin file has your VIN and the same OSID number you are licensed to work with. Otherwise, you could get a VIN/OS mismatch error and HP Tuners will not allow you to reflash the PCM.

It is typically pretty easy to find the correct OSID.. chances of it being supported in tt may be slim but you can fairly easily add it.

You wonder why so many people give you grief, this is why. You drop these one-liner posts, telling people to do something but never explain how to actually do it. Makes people wonder if you really know how to do it or if you're just giving advice you got from another forum or elsewhere on the net.

It doesn't sound like this guy even has TinyTuner, let alone knows how to find the correct OS and/or how to add that to TinyTuner if it isn't currently supported. So why don't you explain to him how to do that in your next post on here so you can actually post something helpful... Is that too much to ask? :th_shakinghead2:
