exhaust gas is inert, meaning it has no combustion efficency. it does not burn. less combustion equals less pressure and lower temps.

that is the purpose of the egr, to keep combustion temp down to prevent the emission of NOx, that is its only purpose. to lower combustion temps at idle and cruise.

deleting the egr would delete the cooling effect it has on the combustion chamber.

i can go into further detail if you wish.

    Also reduces fuel consumption.

But alas, some engines have passed emissions without such devices.

Did you ever figure out what was causing the problem?

NIC cam will aways peg out a narrowband at idle. Headers leak 80% of the time, every time.

The tubes did fix the leak. Fixed exhaust leak and new injector o-rings.

Like dark horizon said im always gonna be pegged at idle.

That's just cause your cam? Seems odd you can get fueling at idle to settle no matter the tune

this cam has valve overlap that causes oxygen to get pulled out during the exhaust stroke, the the o2 reads extra oxygen and dumps fuel

i could get it tuned better and have more timing at idle and low rpms to counter that.

i will get all that taken care of when i get it dyno tuned

It shouldn't matter though idle tuning is idle tuning don't need a dyno for that and even for us ls motor guys with cams ltfts still don't peg I hope its just the tune that needs to be adjusted

You cant tune it out... while timing tricks may help it will never fix it. Run open loop if you care, or work on some of the o2 calibration tables in tinytuner (but I doubt they work).
