The security relearn is set to 30 minutes so that it would be pretty hard or un-nerving for someone stealing your car to sit there for thirty minutes and go through the procedure. The security system is designed so that the key turning in the ignition cylinder creates a particular resistance. The PCM learns this resistance. If someone comes along and wants to jack up your ignition cylinder and start to hotwire it, it would take them 30 minutes to get the PCM to relearn the hotwired resistance. Now it only takes five minutes.
But, they have to know that this has been done to your car, know what wires to mess with, and know about Passlock in general. But, that being said, I could do it.![]()
