    you can tune it.

You can buy a tuned GT pcm from a vendor, or get it tuned by a local, if you know someone that knows what they are doing.

There are a couple good places to buy a boxxed tune like Overkill or the W-body store. Make sure to tell them about your engine swap

Also.. not to be too annoying hhere. what should i get on a tune? for example, increasing the WOT ignition timing tables, the thermostat 180 or 160, and the WOT shifting times.

    IMHO

    1. Tweaked timing is good, but if they say run premium gas with their tune and you don't
    I'd stick to stock(-ish) timing.

    2. Thermostat I'd go with neither, stay stock.

Unless you have money to piss away every day, for a couple extra horse you will probably never need.

if you are only getting 14 mpgs, it might be time for a good tune up.

Umm huh. If you tell me what you want the tune to do and who you want to buy it from I'll be gald to given my opinion and a breif explaination. Spark plugs are a great first step to restoring better mpg, I recommend NGK TR55s.

Ok but one key word in Intense’s name is “racing” their standard tune is fine so nobody flame me here. But the mpg options they are going to add up on the cost. For all around driving I’d look at Overkill dude. Anyway here I go as stated.

Option 1 = Stock idle speed (+100RPM is for cammed cars)

    Option2 = 195 F thermostat (colder just costs mpg)

Option3 = stock (or if you do want a few extra hp might as well go +3if you want to run premium gas)

Option 4 = disable rear O2 sensor DTC (lets to remove your cat later if you like)

Option 5 = stock shift points (the higher options you really should have valve train work first)

If you still want this tune, just take the $175 option I think you save a few bucks.

Thank you very much, i like your opinion.
And the overkill would be the 87 octane option then?
or 91+ if i want premium?

Yup, Overkill has less stated options. But if you read the fine print he really tweaks the PCMs. Judging from our conversation you should totally just go for the 87 octane tune. If you noticed he doesn’t try to trick you into thinking a colder thermostat is a good idea. But he does disable the low temp code if you choose to do it later. IMHO stock thermostat is the best for anyone, except the boosted ppl looking for that last few HP and KR protection.

Some thing to consider is that running premium gas will cost you money every day. Ya sure, you could (maybe) not run it by babying the engine. But then you go to pass someone and pow there goes a hole right threw your #5 piston. Or better yet, your gf (or whom ever) fills up your car with 87 octane with you not knowing, best case scenario your car engine has so much KR it is now SLOWER than stock and uses more gas.

I have a friend that drove a turbo for years and always used 87 octane. The car ran for $hit and got way less than EPA mpg, but refused to use premium.

Mod more, then it would be beneficial for a tune. But do your tune up first: plugs, wires, fuel filter, few other things. As previously stated keep the stock thermostat. All you will do is waste fuel as the engine is not running optimal temperature.
