Just wondering if the different VIN # will mess up the tune.

Basically, I have an Overkill PCM programmed for an 04 GTP Comp G. I have a friend with the same car/mods, but different VIN of course. Would the PCM work in his car also, or would it need to be reprogrammed?

    Thanks.

should just have to do a relearn procedure, but sometimes the mismatch vin will upset things. You can set a vin number with an autotap, or a DHP.

I bought the PCM from overkill but never got a chance to install it, so it's still in the same shape as when he shipped it to me.

Should work, you might have to do a security relearn though. If the car won't start then turn the key to crank, the dic should say there is a security issue but the security light on the dash might come on instead. leave the key at run for 10 mins then turn off for I think 20 seconds and then repeat 2 more times. It will take 30 mins to do. Don't forget to turn it to crank and not just to on.

I had to do this to my girls 06 when I put in a used overkill PCM from an 05.

Thanks for the info! So you don't have to reprogram for a new VIN?
