So with the setup in my sig, I'm running like 18-19* at wot from 3800 to 5000 rpm, from 5200 to 6000 I have to drop it to 15 because of KR.

I've been reading a lot about this and my problem is that wot spark is usually refered to as a single number such as 19 or 20 as if these people were running the same advance through out the whole wot range.

So part of my question is if this is what we would normally like to achieve instead of raising it and then dropping it where needed.

If what I have right now is not the best thing to do, then I was planning on going back to the 3.25 pulley and see if I can run 20* in all the wot range. Would that be a better option than what I have now?

A lot will argue back and forth, this is where a dyno comes in handy.

But you are on the right track, some like to say that they achieve 19-21* of timing but don't include what you just said, that after 5500 rpms or so it starts to drop again, or it's not steady at all like it shouldn't be.

You want it to gradually increase with RPM, but if you are seeing or feeling better results doing it like you described, then try a higher pulley to see if it is a big difference. Either that or look at other points in your tune at that rpm, may need more fuel?

Thanks, I can probably raise it up to 20*. But I didn't want to try it just yet since I wasn't sure if having 20* and then dropping to 15* would be kind of a bad thing. But if there's no problem with that, then I don't think I'll test the 3.25 pulley.

I think I'm gonna start at 15*-16* at 3200, then raise it up to 19* at 4800 and drop it back to 15* from 5200 - 6000.

I'm also guessing that it makes more sense not to have spikes at the shift points? For example if you have 19* at 3800rpm and 15* at 6000rpm. When you shift to 2nd, it's gonna jump from 15* to 19*. I'm not sure if that's any good either.
