What the hell is keyspan? Most people call them USB to RS-232 adapters. Is there something special about these?
Jeff
keyspan is just the company that made the cables. from what I've heard, other makers were less reliable, so people opted for the big name. at this point, any rs-232 should work just fine, as far as I know.
Ok, makes sense they are kind of like the cheap ELM327's hit or miss. We used to buy tons of these for work and we would get a bad batch from one place or another. Didn't even know keyspan was a company. Lol

It would be nice to speed up full writes and reading the pcm. Any idea on how bill did it?
Unless the USB driver is already installed into the hardware then it's not possible to go from USB to RS-232. I deal with a lot of serial interfaces RS-232, 422, 485 and in order to go to any of those you have to have the hardware to interface to USB. If you can take a pic of th box open top and bottom I can tell you.

Im just going to sell my DHP and get an AVT 852.
Sorry for a late response. But I am the one who did do the conversion to USB on my dhp box. There are pictures on the dropbox link on how to do that. It makes it alot faster and reliable, haven't bricked or failed a flash since converting. What your doing is by passing the old rs232 chip inside and hooking an USB ftdi chip in its place and running at 115,200. Also stops the major problem with ground loop in the interface. 😉
