NOW ITS TIME FOR YOU TO JUST STFU. YOUR A DAMN BROKEN RECORD. GO VE TUNE YOUR ASS.
Now this just got funny because if I wasn't right you would have not got mad Scotty master of the 3800 know I'm going to be a dick lmfao lic tuner lmao Try I'm both lic tuner and mechanic lmao I build 383 strocker s-10s and twin turbo 800hp cadis but listen to the Grand Prix master Scotty sounds like a home tuner, no it all to me. yea were different to tune then a ls but still very similar tune your car with the software the way it was meant tune the ve and low octane table. Here's a little guide to help out turn the boost decel tps table to 0 like the l36 or the boost decel mph table to 250mph this will get rid of the big ltft you see or rich condition when rolling above 20mph no throttle with maf unplugged or disabled on an l67, you won't see this on a l36 as they don't come with boost so it's already disabled. causes the boost solenoid to go to 0% instead of the 100% it always is with maf plugged in or with throttle above 1.7% on a l67 with maf unplugged with stock boost decel settings.revers will go to 0% boost solenoid still not sure how to fix this maby someone else does. these tables are only in dhp and tiny tuner there not in hptuner.now make sure in tiny tuner you maf fail mode it set to 2 ve mode not maf fail mode as it is very unstable some early cars were set to the maf fail mode.Know tune the none power enrichment or closed loop portion of the VE with the maf unplugged or set the high fail hz to 0 once trims are good in closed loop plus or minus 5 or if using a wide band 14.2-15 AFR get rid of any knock Well cruising remember your trims will never stay perfect weather will change them. Know move to wot ve tuning I do not recommend trying without a wide band AFR gauge know the car will need timing pulled out of the wot part of the low octane table 0.40-0.92 cylinder airmass be roughly 80-200kpa and you will hit 140kpa on the ve table even with a stock car. shoot for 11-11.5 AFR when wot, when wot but only 50ish tps still power enrichment wot you can shoot for more around 12afr you will get nicer peddle response. Use the pe tps add table. Now that the AFR and knock are good everywhere on ve and low octane table your done ve tuning should only take a day or two maby longer if new to tuning don't worrie and stay calm don't get frustrated.Think of the low octane table to be in Kpa vs rpm instead of cylinder airmass. Will help to figure out were on the table you are trying to pull timing. I use hptuner scanner but dhp/tiny tuner for tuning lots won't have this option but I no dhp can do it, or so I've been told have to be good with spreed sheets and excel I think not 100% sure there. know when the maf fails witch it will sometime you can still drive your car without hurting it. Will not have as much response power as when the maf is active but it's safe and still get fuel mileage and peace of mind is great. Now plug the maf in and do the same to the maf table and high octane but if you get big spikes of kr when stepping into throttle fast but the kr Gos away well keeping your foot in it then try add to the accel enrichment before pulling timing, then pull timing. This won't help in ve as accel enrichment is not active. This is far from all you can do with these cars but will get a good start and will help you learn lots about tuning. Anyone willing to try this will not regret it if done right I no I don't as know if I take my car 500km from home and I'm getting 30mpg on highway if my maf fails my mpg don't drop to 20mpg they stay up in the 30mpg but don't tune the rich ve the say. If ve needs tuning with a big cam there's always room for an inprovement with a stock cam.And Scotty it's funny you shoot can tunes down as there nothing more then a guess to get you started if you email zzp or overkill some scans they will make the tune better just like you do with your canned tunes but if you don't email and ask them to make changes because you still have kr how they going to know just saying. And hey dhp canned tune there 1.5 file is really no different it's a start file not a custom tune wow I'm a dick but whatever so are you Scotty.

And not that it matters but I got my LTFT's within 1-2% and then disabled them. They are 0 100% of the time. I'm tuning directly off the maf and PE if I need to change my a/f.

Yea I run my car in open loop all the time as I have a AFR gauge only problem with running full open loop is if the maf fails it won't throw a code you just have to know but if you have an AFR you'll no it will go way lean all the time until you unplug the maf as this is what happened to me

Not trying to be a dick just don't want people thinking the roung info you could be lean at wot power enrichment and still have a -2 LTFT so make it leaner? Just saying don't pay any attention to the trims when in power enrichment wot
I remember this from over the years also, the fuel trims lock in to whatever they were just before pe, which is why you don't want to be lean at the time.

I also remembered reading about the VE tune not being "necessary" but that it's a good idea if the MAF fails but also that the pcm uses the VE as a base to start from for air/fuel mixture.

Just because tuning one way works for someone doesn't mean it's right for everyone or safe for that matter.

And you just proved my point you call your self a custom tuner but don't tune the ve for you ppl for when the maf does fail proves to me you really don't care about the persons car just as you say zzp doesn't lol as the maf could fail well at wot and take an engine before you no anything has gone roung. Just my opinion though lol. Just sick of the hole are ve does nothing it's useless....

Gonna try to lighten up this thread... so if i dont get a WD or VE tune i dont need to worry about any of this as long as i keep a spare MAF in the trunk?

this only applies if you own a tuner, and are modded. a 3.4 and headers is not really modded. thats intro to modding mods.

No not really modded but modded enough that when the maf does fail and your driving light throttle the car runs 16afr lean enough to take an engine fairly quick. Even at light throttle that's to lean my opinion tho just a mechanic trying to put these horrible tuning tips to rest say what you want but everyone that calls them selves a tuner but doesn't tune the ve in a 3.8 sham on you and your the ppl that will give the tuning guys a bad name. And if the ve does nothing when maf is plugged in y must you tune when you install a cam just think that through. Or if you truly believe it has no use I want you guys to run your car from now on with the ve 0 out it will randomly die even when the maf is working might not in the first 10 min but drive it for days you'll find out how much it doesn't do when the maf is working lmao... Once again just a Canadian car builders/mechanics opinion.

you want to know why tuning the VE is less effective? the VE airflow table stops at 140 map kpa, and if you don't know already, that is about 6 lbs of boost. so you better keep it under 6 lbs of boost. another reason VE tuning is less effective is that it uses data from O2 sensors, which are unreliable outside the 14.7 afr range, so how do you even know what afr you run if you don't have a wideband.

the thing about fighting a retard is that even if you win, what have you won, and who are you going to brag to?
