Has anyone made a duplicate pcm? Im about to licence another 04 pcm and it would be nice if i could just make copies so all my cars use the same credit. I have access to tech2 and all gm software (dad is retired powertrain engineer)

http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...-hp-depository bottom link of the first post is a link to a thread on how to change the osid and vin so you can get around hp credits.

with the tech 2 you might be able to change the vin easier.

I don't think your questions actually got answered. In order to change the Vin on a PCM, you have to unlock that PCM in HPTuners (for 2 credits). I have tried to change a vin without unlocking a PCM before and it never wanted to write.

It sounds like you have more than one 04-05 Grand Prix?

If that's the case, the best thing to do is unlock the year/model for 6 credits right off the bat when you get HPT. Then you can freely tune any 04 Grand Prix PCM for your needs.

the link i posted tells you how to change the vin and the osid# to a registered hp vin so hp dont know.

when you buy or use the credits its the vin and osid #'s that are registered to that car.

not sure, that might be the osid # with a different name? i dont own hp. dont use it either, but i know you can dr the vin to work.

If I was to do the year model with 6 credits, what does that allow me to do? Any 04 pcm? Would ones from N/A cars work?

if you unlock the whole year you can tune any gp from 04 is my understanding.

I feel like i would just collect pcms from the yards, can i write a supercharged (tune.hpt) to any? I believe with the tech 2 i could change 05 pcms to my 04 vin.

it might work. pricey way to go about things tho.

if you have a tech 2, change the vin in a jy pcm to your vin, then read the pcm and try to edit it. if you can find a pcm from the same year car as yours with the same engine you got a better shot of the osid # matching. theres a few per year it seems.

Well both cars are comp g's, and i have a spare zzp pcm i used to tune laying around as my test. Are the pcms that different just because of tapshift?

a tap shift file would be different for sure.
