I just recently switched over to E85 and the car seems to like it except for the cold starts and the lean code. I know I need a tune but, the shop I had planned on doing the tune now says they don't do tunes anymore. The question I have, do you guys think the mini AFR controller that ZZP sells will work to richen up the fuel until I can find someone to do a tune?

time to buy a tuner and learn how to tune. dhp interface rns like 250, you use tiny tuner to fix the cold start issue.

you also need to change injectors if you have not changed them yet.

a mini afc controller gives you higher ranges in your maf table, so the computer can function when the maf sensor is maxed out. all it really does is shift the table so the pcm sees airflow at a higher range. I don't think it will solve your lean fuel condition.

I highly suggest not running E85 if you have no tune for it.

Not only is the cold start and lean codes a issue but it should still require up to almost 30% more fuel than regular gas when you want to make power. That could spell disaster and something could go wrong if not tuned for it.

Yeah, I have the mini afr plugged in now. It's changed my short term fuel trims a little bit, but not enough to chage the p0171 code without runnig too rich.

I think your right Scotty, time to buy a tuner, I haven't been able to find anyone in the San Francisco bay area that tunes 3800s. Does DHP support 06 GPs? Oh and yes, I swapped in Overkills 50lb injectors.

didnt see the 06 part. support ended in 05 for gp's for dhp. cant you guys use a 05 pcm and run it that way?

other option is hp tuners. costs more but is still a live co. with great support.

Well, it looks like my tax return might finance hp tuners for me lol.

look for a used one. they pop up time to time. you can find em on ebay as well used.

may want to get a wideband gauge too. if your tuning, its best to have one, this way you can see a real true value of your a/f ratio.

Ok, will do. What wide band would you recommend?

I'd rather have it run too rich than too lean. Get the wide band that will work with the hp tuner. I recommend the pro version of hp tuner

Well guys I'm back. The car is still running lean, but I did recently buy HPTuners from Overkill Motor Sports. So thing is I need a little help in which direction to tune. I read, "The defacto guide to tuning your car to e85", but I'm a little lost because I'm a newb to tuning. I think my version of HPTuners (I have what I believe to be 2.24 2013 version of HPTuners) is different because I can't seem to find, "injector gain vs cylinder" to use the method #4 in HPTuners. Forgive my newbness, this is all brand new to me and I just don't want to blow up my car lol. Are there any other threads out there that I missed or can any one help me in learning to tune for e85?

Thanks, but this is what I got: engine>fuel>general but "no start up correction". I have the standard version, could that be the reason why?

yeah, a fully mapped bin file

I see this all the time with 04+ on hpt, you have like 12 adjustments and they don't ever seem to offer everything yas need

look for other hpt supported OSID files for yer car...one of them may be better mapped

in the case of my compG, hpt is mapped out well on the "OLD" OSID from the cars release, but the newer updated OSID that the dealers flash em with is barely mapped.

most mild builds don't really need access to everything, id doubt youd need to skew injectors
