So, I'm posting this here because there doesn't seem to be an active u-body forum. I guess I'm not surprised. Who gets excited about minivans?! Plus, there's a lot of knowledgeable people on here.

Anyhow, I have a '98 Montana Transport with the 3400 V-6. It has developed a pretty bad oil leak that's slowly getting worse. Over 1 quart/3000 miles. I cleaned the engine bay and underside as best as I could to see where it was coming from. There's something that looks like a pipe plug in the oil filter adapter. This looks like the most likely source of my leak.

My question to someone who is familiar with this engine is: Is this just a NPT plug? If it's steel, can I just wrap it with some PTFE tape and run it back in? [Pic below]
It almost looks like that's where the pressure sensor would/could go.

I have no problem tearing in to my GP. If I break it, it can sit till I fix it again. But this turd is a different story. The wife needs this thing on a daily basis to haul the booger eaters around. Can't be without it!

id clean that mess up, then run it and watch for the leak to show its self.

is that a oil pressure sensor there? that could be it.
