Thanks! I thought so. Considering it was my first time ever and all.

Ordered my Snell2015 helmet today, so we shall see how fast this pile can go in it's current configuration.

    Nice build. I have a LQ4 block bore 4.005" with a 4" stroker (403ci) in my 98 Trans Am. One mean *****.

When you're bored and want a bump in pwr but stay with stock bottom end a Polluter stg 3 cam and 243 heads will wake that 6 liter up nicely.

I'm currently doing 450hp and tq thru a custom 8.8 rear with them. When I originally was building my engine I had plan a simple refresh and build out with them but I had a rod bolt failure on startup that screwed my stock crank. So a 4" stroker went in. Future plans are to get some TrickFlow Heads and a custom cam for some more power, but that's after paint.

Last Oct I ran 11.6 at Gulfport, MS on street tires.

A buddy of mine has a couple of Blazers and a 5.3L I'm waiting to help him build.

Very cool. A cam and springs is/are definitely on the to-do list.

Got the windows tinted today in preparation for another hot Arizona summer.

Only 35%, but that's the legal maximum (without doctor's note) in Arizona. $40 OTD cash price for both sides using Suntek film with limited lifetime warranty.

Back window was actually already done from the factory. One of the options I saw in the RPO codes:

AJ1 - WINDOW TINTED, DEEP, ALL EXCEPT W/S AND DRS

    I'm guessing it's probably 20%?

Tint guy said I can't roll the windows down for 48 hours. Not a problem when your V8 S10 has AC.

i did 5% limo tint on my back windows. no law here on rear glass, just the front doors. and even that they seem to have stopped enforcing. if i pass inspection with it how can i get a ticket for it? kinda messed up. but if they want to i guess they can still.

I asked the guy if he had anything slightly darker than 35%, but all he had was 35% and 5%. There's no way I'm getting away with 5% on side windows. I would've rolled the dice on 25%-30%.

Took a nice long drive to the junkyard today. Ambient temp was mid 70's. Highest trans temp I saw was 160°. I'm thinking even once ambient reaches 100°+ I should still stay under 200. Fingers crossed.

    Got my helmet today!

Now I'm legal to go sub 14.0.

There's the little sticker that cost an extra $100+ dollars.

I'm not surprised. It was the absolute cheapest snell 2015 helmet I could find. I strongly considered the black, but thought the white would go better with the truck.

yeah, price was why it was bought.

when the visor stops staying up, you need to tighten the side screw at the hinge. seems as you raise and lower it, it loosens up the screw. only thing somewhat wrong with it so far.

I anticipate just leaving the visor up most of the time for the extra ventilation.

The other day, I noticed a spot of oil under the truck. Looked up and saw a drip coming off the right shock. Didn't see any leaks above or around it. Everywhere else was dry. The only fluid lines even close are the trans cooler lines, but the drip was brown and smelled similar to power steering fluid. Not sure how common it is for a shock to leak, but that's what I figure is was. Going to shotgun some cheap (but highly rated) shocks at it. Worse case, I'm out $40 and the truck handles better.

    Also got this little do-dad.

It's a Hertz to volts converter. Going to see if I can get HPtuners to read ethanol content using a cheap GM content sensor through the MPVI pro input.

did yours come with a bag? mine did and it really dont go in the bag well visor open, so just shutting it and opening it when being stored made it loose. i also leave it open, damn things a oven on your head lol but dont ya know it started to not stay up, found this out with 5 cars ahead of me in line to race. i ended up shutting it on that pass, then figured out wtf was going on with it. even after i snugged it up. i worked the visor up and down and was watching the damn screw move. might need a dab of locktite.

It did. Not the greatest thing in the world, but it should work.

If the visor becomes an issue, I'll just take it off.

Slapped the shocks in yesterday. The fact that the old ones don't extend when just sitting on the bench leads me to believe that they were toast.

The final piece of the puzzle is in! I got the gear indicator working. Had to solder up 4 wires from the PRNDL to a multi pack plug in the engine compartment.

Now everything legitimately functions 100% like it did before the swap. Not sure why I waited so long. The trip to the dragstrip is what really prompted me to get it fixed. I burnout in 2nd and run down the track in 3rd. Being a noob, with all the excitement it would be way too easy to mess up by counting positions. Now I can just look at the indicator. Like GM intended.

You know... People give me a hard time for not caring about handling and suspension. It's because I don't even notice. I felt zero difference between those dead shocks and the new ones. It's just not in my DNA.

And you don't have New England roads..... friend of mine in Florida didn't realize a bunch of suspension was bad on her car because she no longer lives up here with horrible roads
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
