could have been worse
hey, I did not get to see it yet
Yes I killed the picture.
It is up to the OP to move the picture to photobucket or some other type of hosting site (using only a hyperlink (not posting the original picture here)). I did not feel it right to go ahead and post a link myself for HIS picture.
Sorry for the trouble, but I felt it best for the community as a whole. He is more than welcome to post a link to the picture and warn people of the nature of it, but I shall leave that up to the OP to decide that fate.
I posted a link. I didn't consider peoples stomach when posting the actual pic.
That's retarted.
Why in the hell would someone click on a post in the forum that title reads-
''Gruesome Foot!''
What in the hell did he expect to see????? A pretty painted picture of a ****ing swan swimming in pond??? Come the hell on.
Even if he did post the pic in a link instead of uploading it he still would have clicked on it and been whining about it.
From the forum rules:
Rule 1, Pictures and video's: If it cant be shown on daytime TV, its not allowed here.
Sorry but that pic and much worse are on daytime TV all the time. And it does not break the rules because GPF is still allowing it to be posted in a link.
Just because someone got offended by the very well described post that they clicked on gives the right for some one to take it down?
Ok then i'm going to be a dumbass and say Streetracing videos and stories offend me because someone I knew got killed by streetracing. Therefore let's do away with all street racing related video's,Stories and forum sections.
I think his picture should be put back up. It does not break the forum rules.
Let's see, how do I put this.
1st. I never said it could not be posted. I just said a picture with this kind of content should be directed to a link and NOT have the actual picture posted here. I guess you missed that part?
2nd. Last time I checked this was a site for Grand Prixs cars, not WebMD or otherwise. NOT everyone that comes to this site is an adult, and YES "someone" might be offended by it. Just because you think only adults look at this site, doesn't mean that possibly some have children that might be looking over their shoulder and see that stuff.
3rd. I NEVER said that this type of thing could not be allowed. I simply stated that pictures of that nature should be directed to a link instead of having the actual photo listed. If you want gore? Then go to to site and specializes in gore.
4th. Your secanrio of the "I hate street racing" is a stretch. But then in that same line of thought, you have the option to click or NOT to click on that link. I was only giving people that SAME option. They could click on a link provided by him to show the foot or to not to click on the link.
Sorry if making sense is "retarded" to you.
i say wow..............
Hey dude let me tell you something, You need to drop the attitude. I don't have a problem with you at all. So let's keep it that way. I was not trying to say that you made a bad decision or did the wrong thing.
But let me ask you a cupple questions. Again while it may not be my place to step in i'm just expressing my opinion. So no hard feelings.
If it's allowed on gpf then why can't it be uploaded. I understand you're concern for the younger crowd but do you think the younger crowd can't also click on the link and see the same thing?
Let me ask you this. what is the difference in someone clicking on a post title that says ''gruesome foot'' or a link IN that post that says the same exact thing??
Seems like they would not click on the post with a title like that in the first place if they did not want to see or hear anythiong about that.
And it's not like it was in the tuning section or anything. It was in the lounge. The lounge is somewhere to talk about non car realted things. Whether that be WebMD or not.
Now I understand that they may not have thought that there would be a pick of something like that but rather maybe a story. Now if that is you're reasoning for the link I understand.
Again man I was not trying to argue and nothing I said was directed to any particular person. I was just saying how I felt. I can tell you I don't appreciate the attitude that you gave me acting like I was stupid or something
Im going to step in on this one here before it hits the stratosphere.
1. GeddyLee did what I was going to do anyway but got tied up at work and completely forgot to do. So had he not taken it down then I would have or had requested it be provided via a web link instead.
2. I agree with Geddy's assessment that this is a Grand Prix site not WebMD. Now, would that photo be interesting to some? Sure! Would it be grousome to some? Absolutely, perhaps to the point of offense. And each of you know DANG well that you can fore warn people until the cows come home but curiosity is going to get a few of them anyway no matter how many layers of distance you put on it but the goal is to at least provide a little bit of cushion before viewing so as to give anyone that curious no excuse to complain. I know that I did not like having to see that looking at it from work. I would even less like it had I been at home and my wife seen it who can be squeamish at times.
3. There are concepts known as The Letter of the Law and The Spirit of the Law.
The rule:
Rule 1, Pictures and video's: If it cant be shown on daytime TV, its not allowed here.
can be probably taken literally and word for word. But ask yourself, do you really believe that that is how we wanted it read or does common sense say that perhaps were were trying to keep things family (and stomach I might add) friendly.
The spirit of that rule is to keep things friendly. If it is necessary for us to spell out each and every conceivable event in a rule, ask yourself how much fun are you going to have here? Do we need to set up registration where each and every person has to sign some form of agreement that they understand the rules both in letter and spirit?
I would certainly hope that everyone here is mature enough to understand that if we (Admins and Mods) take an action here the intent is not to curtail your fun, ruin your day, personally attack you, stick a hot cattle prod in your eye, etc.
Ive seen examples of people egging on inflamed situations as well, and I have abstained from saying or doing anything because I didnt not want to come across as a disciplinarian and too restrictive, but Im now questioning the wisdom in that decision.
Ive tried to remain hands off in most cases depending, rather, on the forum and its members to police itself. I assure you that if you think things are restrictive now, you have not seen the half of it if I were clamp down. I have resisted that in the hopes the forum would be more relaxed, and enjoyable for all. I certainly hope this does not turn out to be an example a bad choice on my part.
I find it personally insulting that a moderator of this forum would have to endure the out lash that has been dealt here. You may not agree with it, you may not like it but it certainly could have been handled better, for instance a PM could have been sent to myself or GeddyLee directly.
We arent out to ruin your day folks, we are simply trying to keep things running as smoothly as we can and keep things as appealing to as wide of a base of members as we can as well. I am sorry that there is the sentiment there is over this action but more so Im a little suprised by it.
Thanks,
Outlash you say?
I'm guessing i'm at fault for this getting carried away.It was not ment to go that way. Nothing was directed at any moderators on this forum so i'm not sure what you ment by that.
While you find it insulting about what you stated above,I find it insulting that a moderator that is suppose to uphold a professional outlook on things would act like I have no common sense at all.
In my post I was just expressing my opinion. Just like you did in the above post. I appreciate you not having an attitude while doing so.
I'm just going to drop it because this is not worth bumping heads about. Agree? lol
I agree, probably better to just let all this go. Though I was not directing my comment to any one person, I probably could have chosen a different wording to make that more clear. I was trying to generalize.
wow i seriously almost gagged ha
I will have to say this, My daughter is a diabetic and it was actually good for her to see. It showed her what can happen if something wrong is not taken care of properly. Yes, the first time I seen it, I wasn't expecting it to be that in depth, but hey, like the title said, it should have been expected. Just wanted to say, it was a good learning experience for my daughter.
