Well guys, I have been working at a gas station for 7 months now.

My dilemma is this. I worked 7-3 on April 8th. A guy that comes in during morning hours bought a powrball ticket. Apparently he won 1 million. He came on two days ago and said I sold him the ticket, then proceeds to leave.

Should I be pissed for not getting a single dollar or should I just leave it alone.

We are a store that is open from 6am-10pm and running on five employees, everyone knows everyone in breezy point, and when people ask about the ticket I say I did sell it and they ask about a tip, I say nothing was given. Your thoughts guys?

The more I think about it the more I get fired up about it. He claimed the prize on the 9th could it be a possibility he did not get the money yet? The store got 5 grand for selling it. I have been working 50-60 hours a week for 5 months, I can count the number of days I have had off this whole winter on one hand.

It certainly sounds like a dick move IMO. I would've hooked you up with at least SOMETHING. Too bad I'll never win anything from these things.

Yeah I really don't know what to do in this situation I have a really easy job, but you get a curveball like this and makes me not want to work there. I saved 90% my money every check and finally had 6500 a month ago to buy my g6..but Damn I gave him 650k after taxes for 2$.

Not to be an ass, but how many tickets you think he has bought over the years? Thousands? Why would he give you jack.

If you want to get a little something, become a casino table employee. I always tip the dealers at a hot table, so do many other people.

Even if he spent thousands, throwing the guy even $100 is a drop in the bucket of what this guy won.

No offense.. But you work for the store.. You get paid a hourly wage.. That's all you should expect. Yea it sucks when you think about it but he's not obligated to give you a tip. Plus I'm sure there's some type of store or company policy about accepting a tip.. Worth losing your job over $100? I think not.

I dont understand the problem here? I wouldnt give the cashier jack Sh!t. it would be the last thing on my mind.

Wife, kids, parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents, nieces, nephews, friends, buddies, pals, chums, highschool acquaintances, neighbours, beer tub chicks, funny cab drivers, stray dogs, squirrels > the guy who pressed print at the 7-11.....

No offence, but why do you feel you deserve a share of the winnings? A million bucks is not that much especially seeing as its American lottery and over half will be in the hands of the IRS.

For you to EXPECT him to give you something makes you a bigger ass than he is for not giving you anything.

Honestly , you should probably not expect a tip, But there is no way if I won (If I was that guy in your Town who won) I would not have gone back without a Grand for you. Many people in this life are just plain selfish.

I think a lot of this discussion is going to be more relevant to the culture of the area and how people were raised. Due to the way I was raised and the area in which I was raised, being selfish is not on the table. You pay it forward...share with those who got you where you are. Personal beliefs...yours may be different.

Just as I know a fast food worker shouldn't get $15 an hour, you shouldn't expect a tip for selling a multimillion dollar lottery ticket. The job your at now isn't a career type job, it's a job that younger people typically have to make some money and learn how to work. It's something that should be a temporary type thing unless you own the store.
