C'mon.. you gotta do it before you drop the trans off. Cause it's much easier out of the car than in.

i might do that than
i'm so undecided![]()
Somebody gave me an old monitor today and I kinda needed one but its oddball resolution... 1280x1024. Works good and the size is better for GPF-in around because so tall but ... its strange, almost square. They also unloaded some old box with 2000me on it so hey maybe I'll get lucky and it'll run the ancient TV card. Haven't watched TV in over a year lol
I doubt the card will work, it's probably analog and TVs are digital now. You might be able to use a converter, then run it into the computer from there. The old monitor is 4:3 aspect ratio, like the old boob tube TVs. Once HD started coming out they switched everything to 16:9.
I guess it is 4:3 just looks tall even for that. No TV required for the TV tuner card... it goes in a PCI slot and your coax goes to it then you watch on monitor. The analog cable signal is still there. It does have RCA and Svideo in and outs too if you want. An old ATI TV Wonder. Win7x64 OS is too new not compatible and my XP box has bad audio on the MB which won't allow the TV s/w to install. I think the gimmie box might meet min specs to run it. Or if I dig I may have more RAM for it and a vid card. Then I could watch commercials on basic again, lol. Its a way to digitize ancient tapes, nab stuff off discs and such so I like to have that card working in something. I'd like nothing better than to score a current box with tuner card and remote, and one day I might but until then- ghetto setup lol.
What I meant was TV signal is digital now, so the tuner card won't be able to decode the signal. This happened nationwide about 3 or 4 years ago. Still uses coax, but the signal is different now. Plus side is you can pick up an MCE remote with a USB IR receiver for around 10 bucks these days. I might even have an IR receiver laying around I can give you, but you'd have to use a universal remote with it.
My local provider still sends the analog signal, this is throwback territory. I never signed up for digital. The gimmie box seems to work great but its the dreaded horizontal platform lol like the one I'm usin now so nothing might fit. Forgot I have a P3 tower that would work that TV card too. Its no thang, I really don't care to have TV but I do like having that card in something that works. Made me grin when the A: drive went brrrmmmmp on first boot tho. Ha. Think the battery crapped, it thought it was still 1997. I was told it sat 6 yrs. I dig an exercise in futility now and then... it has a K6, not sure what speed yet. Gonna update it for giggles
the air signal is now different, the old rabbit ears crap is over.
if your have cable, that tuner card may work still, but if it pulls free tv out of the thin air, its all digital now so you can get free HD channels now. this is just your local networks. no cable channels.
Righto SD and Booba, I'm way off now that I look into it. I mean I don't even know about the air TV, but I do know that they left those of us with old TVs still able to watch when the cable co went digital. I did that for awhile, maybe its gone now too. TVs and stereos are something I never had much interest in so its a great area to show my dumbassery. Ask me about woofers and junk, lol. The free box is in nice shape but falls short of the card specs. As luck would have it, I was doing computer chit when it was new and still have programs and games that vintage that I like to re-visit for a retro hoot. If nothing else it can hold an archive drive for me. Taking it was worth getting the free bright monitor that came with it but to anybody else it would all be "e-waste". I compute with junk.
Maybe I can hard wire it to my GP and slap a tuning program on it.... kidding! Doesn't some of the tuning software out there need ancient O/S? Seems like I've heard you guys talking about that on laptops. Meh- its another conversation, I think I've sufficiently dipped myself in this one.
if you have a cable box you can still run it to a tube tv, or if real old a vhf with the two wires to the screws on the back of the tv......im sure im dating myself so bad here lol
you can also buy a converter box to get the free signal. http://www.walmart.com/c/kp/digital-tv-converter-boxes

Speaking of spark plugs, I got bored and figured out that 97-02 GPs came speced with double plats (according to the manuals) which would explain why mine had them and not iridiums.
