So I broke a couple bolts of in my tranny pan so Im getting it towed and a shop is gonna fix it. However. I need to push the car out of my garage. When doing so, will tranny fluid leak everywhere if I have the tranny pan off??

you get them f ing bolts out now!!!!!!!! punch the broken bolt with a center punch, then use a small metal drill bit, at slow speed steady pressure, then stick the extractor in the hold you drilled and and back it out.

if you spin the drill at high speed you get no where when drilling metal. slow drill speed is how to do it. and wd-40 as a lube too.

oh, and if you gonna have it towed, put the pan back on with like 6 bolts, so its covered and it dont leak. just make em snug its only there for temp reasons, its coming back off at the shop.

Scotty trust me, I tried. I cant get any kind of an angle underneath and no room to punch it with a center punch so drill slides around. I have free towing and the shop said its not gonna be very costly at all.

no room? your on car ramps right? thats plenty of room to work in.

even jack stands would be more then high enough to get a drill under there.

Okay I can fit a drill under there with only about an inch clearance from the ground....maybe its just that Id rather have a shop do it right as opposed to me destroying the threads and having to retap

i think you were going at with high drill rpms.

we had a guy who had to drill out a dp bolt, guy went no where but smoking drill bits lol told him to slow the drill down and push firmly and it drilled out all nice for him.

i do mean slow, like you can see the bit turning slow.

let me phrase the slow part, slow enough as to where you can stop it from turning if you push harder on the bit. so slow lol

the punch if you cant hit it flat, start out on a angle then slowly make the bit turn to straight. dont bend the bit it will snap. so slow, slow slow lol

Im assuming its better to just leave the battery disconnected while I push it into the street? I know I won't have Power steering but I feel like if I hook the battery back up now that might not be the best idea.

Id leave it plugged in, give the shop one less thing to do. Won't hurt anything just don't start the car.

I never really understood the disconnecting the negative battery cable thing. I can see if you are replacing the alt or starter, the live ends of those cables can hit things.
