    Most recent update:

I've been working on finishing up the trim work in our laundry room. For some reason the wall that I ended up moving the door to ended up being 2 2x4 thick so I had to end up building a door jam extension, also had to re-do the threshold from scratch too. I ended up having to make sure that the bolt on the door didn't interfere with the door jam extension. Wife wasn't trilled with the pre-fab ones as they look cheap. Ended up doing the entire room with red oak, stained, and semi-gloss clear coat.

nice work. looks damn clean, you more then welcome to come trim my house someday.

but i would have pushed the door into the laundry room all the way to the inside of the door jamb so it can open all the way and not hit the frame there.

It was considered but all said and done the door opens up all the way without interference.....the jamb extension is almost 3/4" further apart than the original door jam.

    Looks good..

I'd be careful entering the room if laundering is in process... Bet you could clobber the wife w/o realizing it for 3 full seconds.

During those three seconds of her regaining conciousness... I'd be running for my life!
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Since the wife works 2nd shift and I work 1st shift she's usually doing laundry in the morning when I'm not home.....Laundry room has been setup this way for 6 months now and thus far haven't had an issue.

easier to get things done with that basement emptied out a little more i hope!
trim work looks nice seems like you just have the time consuming finishing projects left upstairs.
