So I am really struggling with this one, I am currently a freshman at NDSU going for a business management major. NDSU has a separate "college of business" that includes management, accounting, administration, finance, marketing and MIS. It is highly accredited and it is for juniors and seniors and they have some requirements (2.5 grade point average and at least a B in certain math courses). The grade point average part is not a problem but math particularly algebra has never been my strong suit and am really struggling with my current algebra class that requires a B (second time taking this course). There is on campus tutors available but they can only help so much. I feel like I am stuck because I want to manage and someday own my own company of some sorts and a business degree would be great from NDSU versus other local colleges.

Any suggestions on different degrees that would be helpful for the business world? or should I switch colleges and earn my business degree at a different school in the area? Obviously I don't need a business degree specifically to run my own business one day but it may be very helpful at least to get my foot in the door at some places

    Thanks!

Personally I'd say stick it out at that college. Only transfer if almost all your credits will. I've done the transferring thing and it's not fun or easy. The grass always looks greener but isn't most the time. Right now some many students are spending money on degrees and not even getting a job out of college. I'm one of them. I can't recommend a better degree but I can recommend not spending a lot of money. Try looking outside of school for a tutor. They could probably help you in more ways than a campus tutor who is probably just an upper classman. No matter what you do though goodluck it is a lot of tough decisions. BTW I think a business degree is very smart especially if you want to do business. It's a pretty broad degree and not something too limited like a lot or people get. If I could to it over again that's what I'd go for.

Yep what he said. I just did the whole transfer thing and you should avoid it if you don't have to do it. I lost credits and it set me back some plus all the hassle of having to get health records, transcripts, financial aid forms, etc. all over again. Stick with business where you're at and just focus as much time as you can getting through algebra. Most majors require algebra anyways so you won't avoid it by switching. But most business majors don't require much math past that other than maybe some kind of stats class or economics/accounting type stuff. Every major has it's tough classes but once you pass those, it gets better. Business is definitely a good choice as far as majoring in something useful and relevant

Thanks for the advice. And agree with you guys getting a business management degree is a great major. I just have to get past this math class. The thing is I'm taking it for the second time already and mid term grade for it is not looking pretty but a heck of a lot better than last semester when i first took the course. so I have to decide if I want to take it a third time and hope I improve a lot again

Ya man, just stick with the class. Try to think outside of the box for a better way to learn it. I wasn't great at math but wasn't horrible either. Sometimes you've just gotta find a different way to learn it.
