Broke the rear brake lines in 2 spots, LCA bushings were fubar'd, oil pan gasket leaked, VC gaskets leaked, blower motor didnt work, both front window motors were dead, leaked antifreeze, both tie rod ends were really loose, one ball joint loose, one completely bald tire, abs wires were fubar'd as well, exhaust broke in half after the cat but before the flange..uhh I'm forgetting like 5 things
Started right up and drove, thats about it though. Definitely didn't stop.
What I think is hilarious is that not one thing you mentioned hurts insurance value. Thats still a perfect car to an adjuster.
Ok the rear bumper is cracked on the right side. That should be a huge downfall, not the thousand dollars worth of work. That's a pretty big fail on the insurance company's side
Fail, indeed. For example if you bought that and tagged it then never drove just parked it in a busy spot... full KBB price when somebody bumps into it. The adjuster won't try the brakes before totalling it.
Perfectly good Regal there! Could have put a few hours in ..
$40 JY rack with tie rod ends
$15 JY blower motor
Weld exhaust
$70 in ebay regulators
$70 Rockauto for two control arms with BJ's
Hit the JY for a tire or two to replace the bald ones.
Ship down road for at least $1500 because it runs.
Few bucks and you'd have a good car.. the question I'd have is.. are the rockers rusted to crap.
Rockers were holey in the back. Also the speedometer didn't work, no display for the odometer or gear selector. Interior was kinda beat and smelled strong like cigarette smoke with ashes everywhere.
I'm sure it will be parted out at a scrapyard where people like us will have more parts available for the cars that are much nicer
That awkward moment when you mix up the two nicks in chat.
Both are confused ALL the time dave.
Rust. trash it.
FWIW though, you might want to keep in mind that most of the GM clusters that are digital and have dimmed or you can't see at all. It's a few resistors to fix it. Regals take 8 resistors to redo everything and after say 30min..and $2 you have a good cluster again.
Diagnosed a bad abs wire on the left side on a 05 s/c GP at school today. Had it in the air, tech 2 on the wheel speeds, in drive, and when I wiggled the car's harness on the LCA, the readings jumped.
Was in a group of 2, we took it out and test drove it. Floored it and heard the nice sound of the gen v lol. Makes me want to get a s/c car even more, wheels spun though since the roads were wet so it didn't really put us back in our seats. I noticed it has a plog and cai, aftermarket mufflers, and stock pulley. Some late 20's or early 30 y/o girl drove it, says its seems it's in the shop more than she's driving it lol. This issue with the abs was what makes her think that, it's had 3 bearings before it came to us where we properly diagnosed it.
Tried googling the cluster for the Lucerne. There's a how to pull it out. If you yank it out.. likely there's something silly like resistors.
What is a pirate's favorite letter in the alphabet?
