okay, i am going to get started on looking for one of these. i should be able to unload my subaru in the next couple of weeks and i should probably attempt to start lining something up so i don't have to drive one of my parents cars for that long.
i will have probably about $6k to put down on the car and i will most likely be looking for one priced in the $18-22k range. that means it'll probably end up having over 50k miles on it, which i'm totally okay with. it's an LS with a T56, that's still pretty young.
stipulations for said car that we're looking for:
- V1 (04-07) CTS-V, leaning towards 06/07 since they have the updated rear end. all years considered, though.
- not black (literally any other color is cool).
- less than 80k miles (less than 70k if possible).
- preferably as stock as possible. intake an exhaust are okay, but i'd much rather pick my own intake an exhaust to run.
- 100% legit, good condition exterior and interior. i'm not starting with one that's crap.
- somewhere within about an 6-8 hour drive (500ish miles) from milwaukee, wi (53227 is my area code). willing to travel a little farther for the right one.
- clean title. salvage/accident cars will not even be debated.
now, i've seen a few littered across the internet, but autotempest.com, ebay, cars.com, autotrader.com, etc. can only get me so far (especially when i can only search for a CTS, not the V submodel) so i need some help from you guys to get me tapped into your local market. i don't care if it's private party or at a dealership, but just assume i'll get more car for the money if it's a private seller. that's always the case, really.
given that i am interested in a car locally to you, i would severely appreciate if you, a person of good, sound mind, would go to look at the car IN PERSON for me if possible. having eyes on a car is way different than pictures or the sellers word over the phone. if i am in talks with the seller i'd hope they would even take you for a ride (not drive, a ride) so that you could hear/feel the car in motion to make sure it all seems kosher on the surface at least.
things outside of typical car things that are wrong (leaks, knocks, groans, whines, things not opening/closing properly, etc. etc.) with the CTS-V is that usually if they beat on the car without dealing with the wheel hop issues then the rear ends will go bad. when bad, they whine/groan and you'll notice it when the car is being driven around. outside of that it's pretty stout considering it's an LS/T56 car.
so after that book you just read, go out and search for me. i'll keep looking as well, but having your guys eyes on the street will help me out a lot more than just me looking around on my own. if i go out and buy the car you checked out for me, i'll legitimately hand you $50 cash in person when i come to get it or i will gift you the money over paypal. no joke, i'm willing to give you incentive to find me the right one.
so, whatcha guys got?
PS - the chat box is down for now, so i know for sure you guys have nothing better to do.
