no offense but gainers are sh*t....1 scoop your choice protein, 16 oz fat free milk, 1 cup dried oats, 1 banana blended, is far greater than any "gainer" protein...

rule of thumb is usually 1-1.5 grams of protein per bodyweight for lifters....obvious foods like chicken, beef/steak, eggs, tuna, yogurt/cottage cheese = easy choices to accomplish your daily intake....

Xtend is pretty good, I still prefer AEN Intrabolic and CL's Purple Wraath, personal preference....

before my shoulder/back injury I joined the 1200lb club with my 3 major lifts at only 25 yrs old and 175 lbs (12% BF) had a 345 Bench, 455 Dead, and 415 Squat <<<yea I know, terrible squat....

Entirely missed my point I don't like taking 3 to 5 damn shakes a day, this is all based on opinion I know. I can afford the calories in the gainer and 52g is 2 shakes of your 25g per servings you said

"1 scoop your choice protein, 16 oz fat free milk, 1 cup dried oats, 1 banana blended, is far greater than any "gainer" protein..."

    my 1 scoop is 52g vs. 25g
my milk is whole not skim again I can afford to use it and don't care about using skim plus skim tastes horrible
I said banana you said banana..... change=none
1 cup dried oats but I use peanut butter in mine too so whats the difference besides your "version" or the shake is 25g less of protein per serving???

Again its all preference and quite frankly taste too has a little to do with what supplements people use too.

using a gainer 2 shakes PLUS what is added in gets me 104g my diet makes up the rest in meals, it would take 4 shakes plus my meals to come out to roughly the same intake.

So in the end 4 shakes to get 100g plus drinking water plus meals plus taking what ever supplements like prework you get to a point where drinking so damn much makes you feel bloated also, Cant run when you feel like you have 4 gallons of whatever sloshing around haha.

Remember its all opinion so to each their own.

your reasoning is flawed....fat free milk is fortified, thus the larger amount of said vitamins....a single cup of whole milk contains almost a 1/4 of your daily sat fat content....once again...nothing wrong with whole milk, but the only thing you're getting more of is calories and fat (and obviously a better tasting milk for most)...vitamin D is not time dependent, thus being capable of being absorbed through meals eaten througout the day...calcium however is typically Vit D dependent, but once again, is not dependent on being absorbed during a single meal....that's what multi's and other meals during the day are for...the only argument against fat free milk would be because it's "fortified" and because it usually contains a higher sugar and sodium content...if you need the extra cals and fat on a daily basis, by all means drink whole, but I still would suggest maybe "2%" milk over whole....

Remember its all opinion so to each their own.
take for example a very popular brand like "Optimum"....their popular gainer "Serious Mass" contains 50 grams of protein a serving (2 scoops/334grams)...their "Gold Standard Whey" contains 24 grams of protein a serving (1 scoop/30grams)...that means a 10lb bag of "Gold Whey" has 149 servings VS the "Gainer" that has only 16 servings in a 12 lb bag....so even if you consume 9 scoops of "Gold Whey" a serving (exaggeration of course) you would still have left over protein compared to the gainer....

you're stuck on amount of protein per serving, which most people not very experienced with supplements usually do, without understanding that you can take 100 grams of protein in one meal and 50, and it be the same result...10+ years ago I may have had a similar view to yours, but experience helps...

either way "Gainers" are a waste of money....not because they're bad for you, but make no sense in terms of someone only worrying about Protein content or overall calories because of how much money you save taking a regular protein and turning it into a similar shake minus the fillers and monsterous 334 gram serving (without milk!)...

You could be more modest about it but I agree that you can eat food instead of supplements for cheaper and usually better tasting. If you want a good protein source, a piece of meat is about as good as it gets for amino profile. and if you just want extra calories on the cheap, grab a pint of ben and jerry's.

kidney problems because of fat free milk? really...an excessive amount of any kind of milk/dairy has the same effect on kidneys...I doubt 16 oz a day will ever cause any kind of issues...

CERT here in DE requires a 2 mile PT Test, and yes, I completed it in exactly 13:17 this year....My fastest mile to date is only 6:09, while nothing to brag about is a bit faster than you may have originally thought, huh?
