I was listening to your lightening strike audio files. And I have one those ubar LogicTech 6 speaker sound systems for my computer with the THX threatre sound. MY GOD!!! It gave me chills just hearing it. And of course rummbled the apartment. The old lady below me was banging on her ceiling hehe thanks for getting me in trouble

I am sure a "leather" strap is NOT gonna hold anything in such forces. But like with Hurricanes, do Torandos have such an "eye?" I can only assume they do have some type of "eye" though probably not as stable given the circumstances. Not like you can fly a C130 into one of those. I dont see there being that much room in them, like with Hurricanes that can be miles in length (I am guessing here too) in their "eye?"

And with your photos? Do you sell them or can someone ask nicely for a certain one they really really like???

When I was living in edmond last year, I seen quite a few cool lightning strikes like that. Watching the storms, was the only thing that kept me sane, between the trains running behind where I was staying, and the meth-heads fighting also, while being cramped in a room the size of my bedroom in my house, at the inn-town suites all the time. woops, acciedental rant over.

I think you may have meant the 2002 season, mabye picture Lightning0132K2a, or one of those. I dont recall being close to any towers in 2006. But in 2002, well I had a real good string of blessing being able to catch some great pictures.

Anyway, if you can picture two pasture fields that are fenced off and have a road down between them. The pasture fields are north and south, the road runs east and west. Well the tower is just barely inside the pasture field on the North side. Im sitting outside the fence on the South side pasture field just across the road with my camera point up thinking the strikes would hit the top of the tower, but they did everything but.

In fact, there was a long series of strikes that started from the south west, and about every two to five seconds one would hit progressively getting closer to that tower and of course me. Being the smart guy I am, I nearly made brownies and set the camera on auto and dove in the car just as one of those strikes hit near the tower. All I could hear, other than the thunder that was so loud and strong that I felt the concussions in my chest, was the sizzling sound of the air being ionized.

As far as my closest encounter, it was about 100' away or so that a strike hit from my position. I have an audio clip of it on the site, but it was just outside the field of view of the camera. You can see a bright spot in the shot and if I had the camera turned just a couple of degrees to the right, I would have had it on film. The thunder was so loud it was like an entire battle group firing their guns all at once.

Yeah where you live at now is pretty ripe for good storms no doubt! And we still need to go fishin your lake behind your house once it fills back up with water

I remember being at Randy's up in Al Hambra. Man they had a storm roll through there. It was creepy for the fact he lived right behind these HUGE grain silos. Aluminium light rods of course And all that flat land in IL makes it a nice target for HIGH winds and torandos no doubt!

I think that was the audio file I was listening to a minute ago. Simply unbelievable. I know if i was there.....the sound would have had to been edited to remove all my cussing and the staining of certain clothing items

Oh yeah, I still listen to that audio clip from time to time and it still scares the crap out of me too and I was there and no what to expect!

With regards to your question. Tornadoes do have an eye of sorts, but it tends to be more so at the top of the twister and less at the bottom, obviously because of the funnel shape. However, there are situations where you will find what they call multiple vortices's tornadoes and its basically two or more tornadoes in one bigger tornado. Those I have never seen so I cannot really comment on.

Single twisters though can be so erratic that the eye would not stay defined very long except on larger tornadoes. In fact I have a personal rule in chasing. I wont chase anything smaller than an F1 or now EF1 because they tend to be so unpredictable and erratic. Larger twisters are more defined, tend to track in one general direction with some wobble though. The smaller ones jump around, rope out and reform and I dont like that.

I tried selling my pictures on Ebay before but could never quite get a following going so I gave up that venture. I would love to get a market going, Id love to chase storms all over the place.

But to answer your question directly, I do not currently sell them. I want to create a screen saver of the better shots but just never got around to doing that.

I dont mind giving the shots to people, my concern would be maintaining the copyright. I dunno, maybe I could put something together for desktop backgrounds or something like that, was that what you had in mind. Maybe I can get off my duff and after I get the Grand Prix screen saver done, make one for lightning.

Yeah, well you dont hear the whole audio clip. What happened after all the thunder died down and I had sorta regained my composure I went over and whispered in the microphone "THAT WAS FREAKING CLOSE".

Oh yeah, that was among my last storms I chased using Film, before I went all digital. I use Fuji 64T film to create that blue effect. That was among my most favorite storms. I shot more pictures from that one spot (Collinsville, OK) than I have ever captured from one spot before. I loved every minute of it. But what you see out there is power lines.

What you dont see is the other power lines that are directly over my head. What you dont hear is that every time a strike hit out there, I hear the power lines over my head sizzle. I was a wee bit nervous about that one but I just couldnt bring my self to stop shooting.

In regards to your photos, you are more than welcome to put the watermark on it to lay claim to it, I am not worried about that. Just maybe place in the corner or at the top or something? So that way I can enjoy the full view of the photo It would look really good at work. One of my coworkers has this volcano erruption picture that spans both his dual monitors on his OA boxes and one on his main station box. It looks rather wicked.

I think adding a nice lightening scene would liven up our area On one side you have death by heat and flame and the other electricution. How can you go wrong?

If that is not acceptable? I will respect that, just had to try ..... again...

Let me know which one you would like and I'll try and get you squared away this evening depending on what the time constraints end up being. Also let me know what resolution you need it in.
