This may be a long shot, but I have been looking for this car for a long time. A 3800 powered Grand AM, yes AM not PRIX. A while back when I was in High School and first started driving a friend of mine had a Grand Am. It was a 1993 GT Coupe with the 3300 motor. His dad had picked it up non running in Texas for $800, rust free.
We almost immediately took to modifying the car, cutting the springs, stupid stuff like that lol. Anyways, the motor shortly after took a ****, and that winter we pulled it into the garage. His father was a retired GM mechanic, and opted that we swap out the 3300 for a 3800, and so the project began.
The swap was completed in 2007. The car shortly after got some real lowering springs, some nice black 18" rims, a big gay wing on the back.
Fall of 2009 the car got a really nice black gloss paint job.

SO anyways long story short, in the fall of 2011 the car broke down on the side of the expressway I believe near Jackson, MI. My friend left it there overnight never to see the car again.
I would love to find this car, I KNOW someone has to have seen the car since then (I mean seriously, how often do you see a 1993 Grand AM GT and say, wow that is sharp!) or the fact that it was much faster than a stock GTP... If anybody has seen it, or even heard a friend or your friend talking about it I would love to hear about it. Just anything, maybe even a picture of it?
Please spread the work about this car, maybe not even the fact that it is/was stolen, but just to see it. I am sure if it didnt get parted out, that it was VIN swapped or something of that nature, I did hear from someone they thought they saw the car at a police auction in Gennesee county last February (14 months ago) but that is the only lead I have...

Were police called when it came up missing? Any chance it was impounded?

It was not my car, so I didnt do any of that. My friend told me he called it in as stolen, but it may have been impounded... He was going through some hard times with drugs back then.. That would make sense with someone telling me they thought they saw it at an auction.

I do not have the VIN, and sadly have not been in contant with my friend since I moved from Michigan to Georgia about a year ago. I will see if I can find out what it is though. Is there a way to track auction records or something of that nature?

If you had the vin, you could have the police department do a nationwide search for the last registration.

It sounds like you're gonna be S.O.L. on this one though.

Sucks you dont have the VIN I would contact a buddy who works for a repo company that could easily find it.

Your other option is to do a google image search and start going through the pics and seeing if you come across it.

I txt my buddy to see if he could get the vin. If he no longer has any paperwork on the car, or maybe not even the title is there anyway he could get it? Contact insurance company or something of that nature?

He could try contacting the DMV or insurance but there's no guarantee that he could get it or that they would even still have the information.

I know you've got the attachment to that particular car, but why not build another? You should be able to get a grand am with a blown motor or trans for $500 or so, then build it how you want it.

The wiring harness part of that scares me, but eventually either I will find that car, or I will build another one. Trying to find a 91-93 Grand Am GT Coupe that is worth putting work into is hard to do... damn you cash for clunkers!

Use a dropout engine, trans and harness from a donor vehicle. It shouldn't be too bad. This forum has some wire tucks and generally knowledgeable people, so you can always just ask if you need help.

A guy who runs a local performance shop does custom GM harnesses for like 500-800 dollars. After the last harness I attempted to make, I would say that is probably money we spent!

plugging a wiring harness in is not a big deal, reading through two sets of manuals, tracing wires, soldering, and doing a good job of it all is not very fun. lol

That's why a dropout engine, trans and PCM would come in handy. A stock harness would be a lot cheaper than having one made, and it would just be plug and play.

I dont want to sound like I am telling you that you are wrong, but I am 99.9999999% sure that no 3800SC wiring harness from any year make or model will plug and play with a 93 Grand Am GT. You would have to do a piggy back setup in order for everything on the car to still work properly. If you could prove me wrong though, that will be good news for me

I believe what explicit spade was stating is that its easier to just drop the whole thing in including the wiring harness for the engine. You guys are pretty much saying the same thing. However you are also talking about the electrical with regard to the interior i.e- door locks which would require a piggy back. And yes it's a huge PITA. Definetly one of those things worth paying someone to do.

Gotcha. Yeah something that if I was going to do would probably start with a wrecked (running) donor car for sure, I would hate to try and piece it all together!
