Not really, they are claiming certain cars are "track ready" but really they aren't. Nobody tracks a car with stock suspension, at least not if they expect to do well. The ZR1 and upcoming Z28 are the only ones current that advertise being "track" cars but everything else will need alot of work to really do well on a track.
Besides, 1/4 mile is the only thing that really matters. Unless you live next to a closed course track, everything is 1/4 or 1/2 mile.
Haha you can easily track the Zo6 as well as the ZR1. Like I said, GM is moving more towards track cars. Which I personally like.
Meh, stock Z06 suspension isn't suited for track purposes. Still a good amount of body roll because they want to sell to old people with bad backs and when it drives like its on rails and with a rough ride because it has a proper solid suspension like it should it turns off most people who want to DD a car like that.
My friends parents Z06 with factory suspension rides almost as smooth as the CTS its parked next to. Feels about as strong in the corners as one too. When you actually ride in a prepped track car and then get into a stock sports car, even a Z06, you can tell a big difference.
Moving towards, yes, but only with 2 cars. Not much improvement really.
This. I've ridden in a cayman cup car, 911 cup car, and various other porsche's built for the track(high school auto tech teacher was a porsche club member and had a turbo 944 pushing 400+hp)Quote:

Is it not funny that since the ZL1/GT500 conflict, a lot of true GM nuttswingers ( no offence to anyone here) place so much importance on factory track readiness. I recall talk of the Cobra R being a worthless pile because the LS1 fbody could keep up with it in a straight line, and obviously it was hated on because of it's price. The Z28 is announced....greatest thing ever. Mustangs guys would mod modular cars to keep up with LS1's in a straight line, or at least go broke in the attempt. Now that factory Mustangs for the most part are out running comparable factory Camaros in a straight line, road course performance is what's really important. As if more than 2% of the consumer population will ever visit an actual road course.

I think if more people knew about track racing more would. I'm blessed to have Road America only twenty minutes away.
