i decided to write a program from scratch using visual basic and this is what i came up with.

the program is a horsepower and torque calulator. all of it is estimation based upon forumlas, so its not to be mistaken for a dyno run (obviously) but its pretty nifty to mess with.

the torque is most accurate if you enter 4500 as the engine rpm...

    enjoy!

i tried to make it pretty foolproof too.
go ahead and enter something like "dasjkipasdfh" into a text box and see what you get! also check out the toolbar at the top (we didnt learn that in class). the tab order is set correctly so you never have to use the mouse, the Esc key closes the program, and if you press the Alt key, shortcut keys appear.
basically it was a way for me to see if ive actually learned anything, or if i just read stuff froma book and then program it.

Pretty neat. I wish I knew how to do all that so I could write a few custom programs.
