they average $50k a year!! require no college degree and have very little job training, a Police officer (in michigan at least) average $30k a year also with no college degree. That means driving a mail truck through subdivisions will earn you $20k more a year then putting you life on the line AND becoming a postal worker can earn you $35k more a year then working at your average burger joint.....just some fun facts i wanted to share

That's because postal workers are federal employees...great benefits once you're vested, as well. They also have a pretty powerful union.

Pretty sure they probably run some pretty hardcore background tests and drug testing too seeing as how it is a federal job. Not just anyone can get it.

They also go through every website youve been to on a computer and keep it on file. Pretty sure I heard they don't hire anybody who has ever been on GPF.

The government isn't about to let go of their mail monopoly. Look at how there were hundreds of post offices that were schedule to close due to budget cuts. The postal workers union went...well...postal...none of them are closing now. Saturday delivery was supposed to be abandoned because of budget cuts...the postal workers union went postal again, and now Saturday delivery is alive and well. USPS isn't going anywhere. Your tax dollars at work...

My dad works for the post office. He works a lot of long days walking through parts of town that aren't exactly the best, and he had to "work his way up" to doing that from sorting mail. I know that there are sorter jobs open where I live that start at 16/hr.

That being said, working for the government isn't for everyone.

I don't have a college degree or formal training and I make way more than either of those jobs. People can choose what they want to do and what kind of money they want to make. I'm curious as to your reference for the average police salary in Michigan at 30k. Maybe the average starting position.

Right, but what are the tax rates up there? I remember being up there once and seeing a t-shirt that said, "Tax me - I'm Canadian!"
