Has anyone bought a notebook lately? There are two at Walmart.com I am looking at.
HKC 7" Capacitive Touchscreen Tablet Featuring Google Mobile Services and Android 4.0 with 8GB Memory @ $100
and
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with WiFi 7" Touchscreen Tablet PC Featuring Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System, Silver. @ $180
This a first notebook and I have only watch others operate them.

Don't go cheap. You will regret it.
I bought my mom a Kindle Fire and she loves it.
Other than that I would recommend only name brand, ie Samsung Note, etc

I don't use the Fire, but my mom absolutely loves it and has no issues. My brother bought my nephew a generic one for Christmas and it has more problems than a Windows ME computer. Its constantly freezing for no reason. My nephew steals my moms Fire all the time because it works so much better than his tablet.Originally Posted by dsmuts

I bought my son a cheap one of amazon for christmas and it only worked for about 3 weeks and the screen quit working. It'll occasionally for a week or so but it's going in the trash soon I think. The one he posted from walmart for $99 has good reviews so I hope this one will be better. I hate seeing my son disappointed when his christmas present broke.

basically stay away from the kindles or anything non android if you want apps unless you buy an ipad

keywords are android based meaning it's still limited in apps. but it makes a good e reader

Those HKC are POS. Someone brought one into work and wanted me to fix it (just glitchy and slow). Thing broke a week later.
Nexus 7 for $163 on Newegg, I love it.

I've heard nothing but great reviews about Windows 8. The only people who complain are people who aren't willing to go with the evolution.
