I would tend to agree. I didn't get my first actual ticket for a moving violation until I was 24 or 25. I cannot recall how many times I got off for having a clean record. They would tell me to "take it as a lesson and keep my record clean." However, I have noticed that down here the cops are far less forgiving then they used to be. They need revenue and they aren't getting it from other sources so they get it by writing tickets.

Wow, yeah I'm surprised radar detectors were JUST mentioned.
I got pulled for 72 in a 55, got off with impeding traffic since it was my first ticket.
Now I have a radar detector, it has saved me countless times. Definitely an investment that pays for itself.
Re: How can I get out of a speeding ticket?
My first (and only) speeding ticket, was for 77 in a 65 when I was 17. No warning, no break.
I paid it and was on my way. What's the big deal here buddy? You speed, you run the risk of getting a ticket.
Re: How can I get out of a speeding ticket?
I've been in this situation a few times and will say to show up to the court every time. Show up a little early and ask to talk with the prosecutor. Asked to have the ticket reduced to a "non-moving" violation.....something like not wearing a seatbelt or something stupid. Key point is to make sure that it's a non-moving violation so that you will receive no point and your insurance rates will not be affected. When you do talk with the person list of the important things that are good about the situation (clear visibility, dry road conditions, light traffic, no accident, and so on and so foth)....you'll walk out of there having to pay a fine but affecting your insurance rates is the most important thing.
Just my $0.02 and showing up does make a huge difference.

I have an idea.
Don't show.
Don't pay.
Keep speeding like a boss.

NY will allow you to plead guilty to parking on pavement of a lesser charge. No points, pay the $100 fine. Move on.

Re: How can I get out of a speeding ticket?
Just so you know how it happens in NYS, because I live in NYS.
You have a court date, go to it. The DA should be there calling people in a side room, this being a first offense, they will say something like "how does parking on pavement sound?" either the full fine size or $100 (Coma (governor) is ****ing around right now, saying we aren't getting enough money from this kind of stuff, since his $2 Billion deal to siphon off NYSIF fell through). Either way you go before the judge, he bangs a gavel and you should walk out of there $100-$200 lighter but no points (which is key because if you fight this, they will hit you HARD, and you will end up $2,000 broker over 3 years for the insurance going up). If they don't plead you down, because they are having a bad day or whatever, pay it and then sign up for one of the Defensive Driver classes that all over this state and online, pay $30-50, show the county you did it, so the points disappear. I've only had 2 tickets ever, one in NYS where I got the plea deal and the Florida where they hit me up the ass for it and I had to do the Class thing.
