my ins was 3 grand a year for full coverage on my last 2 new trucks,( and i had some points still then) the regal runs me 100 a month for liability. but that because of where i live. not points related.

the real problem here is why you got the ticket and not a warning.
Cop probably saw him peel out, gave him a break
Probably saw the car nearly out of control, get back under control...gave him a break
Third time.. cop said. I'll give him a diagnostic fee!
Exactly. What did he do to make the officer think that a ticket was necessary.
But since the ticket is already given then my advice is this:
Say that your throttle stuck due to the floor mat. When they ask "If that's the case, then why was it sustained speeding?"
You then respond with "It's a Grand Am. 63 is top speed."
Or pull out the reciept from the mechanic just checking it over. Although..it'll probably be the wrong date
63 in a 50? the hell...
show up to your court date and take whatever they give you. that ticket aint even worth their time to care about. they're gonna drop the points down and take more money from you.
i routinely get pulled over for 15+ mph (once a year or so) and i usually just send in my payment and never think about it again.
Cop didn't see me peel out at all. I was already driving doing 63 and a cop was coming towards me and I wasn't paying attention and it was dark. He did a U-turn, follow me for a bit then pulled me over saying that he clocked me @ 63 on the road I was previously on. First time being pulled over, first time getting a ticket.
If there's a god...
just go to court and they'll work with you, you'll be fine. :)
basically.
show up at court and do whatever they tell you. it's not that complicated.
Probably won't be your last ticket. Prepare yourself to take the plea and fork up the money.
Got popped for doing like 70 in a 45 a few years back. Could of taken me to jail but cop didn't. He hit me with a $300+ fine...I was fine paying it and didn't think 2x. I took the chance and got caught and man'd up and paid it. Yea all of this because I had to take a ****. lol
when nature calls dammit...
142 in a 70.
Let me tell you how that went.
"Son, nothing is faster than a Motorola...please step out of the car."
I've gotten a ticket, driven home and written the check before. Painful, but the cop gave me a hell of a deal.
the last ticket i got i went right to the police department to pay it. it wasn't even in the system yet.
That's what I did the last two I got...
First was for drag racing...Well, that is what the ticket said...Got the ticket on a Sunday..(it was against a new edge gt..i won :p) anyways..Called to see how much the ticket was gonna be, figuring I'm gonna lose my license again and face a couple grand and jail...Clerk of Courts tells me 120...Regular ticket fee...I say "uhhh I will be right there to pay". I got charged with "peeling tires and crackling exhaust"
Second was 3 weeks later...On the highway going to class. I was running a little late but I was not speeding. Cop was a douche, some old fat ****. He comes up to the car from the passenger side as im reaching over to put the window down..(passenger switch made the window go quicker). He starts making a big deal about what I was reaching for blah blah and how he could handcuff me and tear the car apart to search it. Tells me I was going 81 in a 60....I wasn't even going 65 hahaha. My thing was, I know there was a gold rendezvous coming up behind me pretty quick and I know thats who he clocked. He comes back and tells me that he is gonna ticket me for 79 in a 60 so I wouldn't get double charges. Went the next day and just paid it. With my record they wouldn't have believed me and I didn't want to bug my lawyer with it.
I'm assuming that he was 13 over... Or he would've mentioned getting pulled out of vehicle, OJ Simpson style chase, etc! Lol...
If in NY, 15 mph over the limit is the magic number as far as insurance is concerned. I would imagine that the OP was going faster and the 13 mph is already a break given to him. Age has a lot to do with tickets too... I've been able to bull my way out of tickets going +25 over, it all depends! Radar Detectors help! Knowing the roads you are on help too. People's brake lights seemingly for no reason in front of you help! Etc... But I sat there one time, watching all the cases being handled, what a system! Those who knew LEO's got one type of violation (reduced charge, same $), the lawyers handling clients got another different type (reduced charge, same $)... And those wanting to fight, or offer some explanation thinking it was reasonable and fair, seeking the mercy of the court, all got SCREWED! Lolz...
Don't think you're gonna beat the MAN at his own game!
You gotta PAY if you wanna PLAY, simple rule!!!
I say just go to court and tell him "I'm 17 I'm supposed to drive like a douche bag"
Hey guys when we see him on "Cops" one day we can say we knew him when.
