I've heard of many issues w vq motors.. If you're boosting a motor, vq seems like a bad idea unless you wanna spend $$$$$

Can't be stupid about it. If you think a stock motor will hold 30psi and push 900whp then you are asking for trouble. These motors seem to handle a reasonable boost level at around 450whp levels which in my book is more then plenty to get a car moving. Some guys are unfimilar with the concept of having a car properly tuned before ragging on it and it just asks for trouble.

That said, yes it can be expensive....but if I were to lay a VQ37 rod next to the VQ30 rod, you would see that it has gotten better with time. The VQ37 (even I didn't like this motor at first) is the strongest yet.

Not everything is about boosting though, there is a video out there of a Sentra VQ35 swap and all he has done to it is headers, exhaust, intake, plenum spacers and lightened flywheel and he takes down Porsche GT3 RS's on the track without issue. Heck there is a guy who did development for the VQ35DE (DE's are old compared to what has come around) and put down 400whp N/A with his work, no full build or anything. Some one just did a 2009 FWD VQ35 block in an older maxima and managed 300whp with a tune, headers and intake...that is it. So it is all a matter of how you want to look at things. The motor is phenominal.

I'd rather work on one of these then an RB variant or 2jz...go price parts for those motors.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
