Alritey.. Well I've been sitting on some xmas money, gonna save part of it for my move. But I want satellite radio for my car. I love music so I think it'd be something I'd really enjoy. Got a gift card to best buy, so I figured why not put it towards a radio.

I just want some input from you; if you have one or you know anything about it chime in.

Seen this and thought hm that's nice, but seems too cheap. Oddly cheap. XM Onyx Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit XDNX1V1 - Best Buy

So then I seen this. SiriusXM Edge Dock & Play Radio + PowerConnect Vehicle Kit SX1EV1 - Best Buy
And this Sirius Starmate 8 Dock & Play Radio + PowerConnect Vehicle Kit SST8V1 - Best Buy

Like sirius, xm, siriusxm; just what in the hells the difference and what all do I need?

that unit works just fine. im using a 60 dollar XM roady for the last 3 years now, been through 3 units over the last 9 years i guess.

they dont like to hit the floor from a peterbuilts dash board much. so i broke a few.

if you have a tape deck in your stock radio, thats the easiest way to hook it up, and the best cheap way to.

fm modulators suck. try not to use that one.

a direct plug in would be the best way to hook it up tho. cd changer or aux port.

the car kits comes with a cord that glues to the window antenna or clips onto the cars external antenna. in my truck i used this wire to but took the antenna off and clipped into the antenna threaded stud, work great like that, i never used the window mount system.

you can sign up for one package plan. cancel it at the end, and with in 2 weeks they send you a come back for 6 months for 25 bucks emails. thats how i do it for the last 2 years or more now.

OH VERY IMPORTANT !!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD OR BANK CARD OR A CHECK OVER THE PHONE, EVER!!!!!! ONLY PAY WITH MONEY ORDERS. THESE FVCKS WILL JUST CHARGE YOUR CARD WHEN ITS TIME FOR A RENEW. EVEN IF YOU CANCEL. VERY SHADY ACCOUNTING DEPT.

ask them to bill you when signing up, tell them you've heard bad thing about them and credit cards, they will agree, most have when i call and b1tch at them.

best way to run the XM antenna is through the dash and out the pass side door, and then tuck the wire under the windshield rubber trim, put the magnet/antenna at the top of the windshield.

the small black box at the top of the pass side windshield is the Xm antenna.

heres a link to opie and anthony live stream of their channel, the channel. it used to be called the VIRUS so the name is in the link. http://stream.spreadtheonavirus.com/livexm

the only difference between XM and sirus is Opie and Anthony are on XM, and Howard is on sirus. thats your only deciding factor. the channel line ups are the same. service is the same.

Well I'm keeping my stock HU and it only has cd player and no aux input. SO I'll probably have to do the fm modulator deal.

But THANKS for all the tips there, really helpful!

you can get this kind of modulator, works the best, i still have on from a truck i used to drive at work. Sirius-Xm Fmda25 Sirius® Wired Fm Relay Kit

this one you take the radio out, unhook the fm antenna then install its antenna plug into the radio, then the cars antenna into the module. its the best option if your stuck going this way.

the other plug with the head phone jack end in the pic plugs into the XM unit.

I used the FM modulator adapter that plugs directly I to the FM antenna in the back of radio in my old truck and it works perfect. No interference or static. And I had the cheapest install kit they sold at the time.

Welp, ordered this one. XM Onyx Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit XDNX1V1 - Best Buy
I'm gonna give it a whirl. And if I see fit I'll just upgrade the fm transmitter or take another route of input. But for a starter kit, I think it'll do me justice.

welcome to the club! you'll never listen to fm radio again.

if your sick in the head and like outrageous talk radio, o and a are on ch 105. everyone knows Howard and these guys are dirtier then he ever could want to be really.

if you want i can take a pic of how i ran the antenna wire out the pass side door and up the window trim. short of seeing some wire in the door jam, its a clean install from the outside.

that windshield trim will not move when its cold, so make sure its kinda warm out or the trim may crack. when warm you can lift it with your fingers.
