The other day i started my 2004 pontiac grand prix gt and it seemed to be running funny sputtering a little bit when i would take off. When I got home I turned it off and waited ablout a half hour and tried starting it agin and it wouldnt start. So I waited a couple hours and started it and it started fine still kinda bogging out and the check engine light came on flashing. Also when it does start now there is a strong smell of gas...I dont know what to do and need help bad cause I need my car...Any help????

sounds like a clogged cat. you can drive it to have it scanned. just take it real easy. maybe you have a local garage that would scan it for free, dont know till you ask.

so when your floor it does it kinda sound/feel like bananas stuffed in the tail pipe, like it cant exhale?

if you pull the o2 sensor and it runs better, because of the exhaust leak, aka the hole in the manifold where it goes in,(your making a exhaust leak before the cat) the cat is defiantly clogged.

also if you get under the car and hit the cat and hear rattling inside it its shot as well.

another test is to drive it at night when its good and dark, then look under the car, if the cat is glowing red its clogged.
