Yep, picked him up this evening. I got a 4mo old sugar glider. I'll post up some pics later on once I have a change to get a few better pics than what I have.

LOL. Yeah, if they get made or feel threatened they will make a sound something similar to one of those school electric pencil sharpeners. And they do bark, though I have not heard one do so yet.

When properly trained, they are known to leap or glide long distances to get to the person(s) they are comfortable with. They are also known as 'pocket pets' for obvious reasons. They are nocturnal, but I kept him in his cage in our bedroom last night and he never made any noise that disturbed me or my wife.

Now my dog (a 8 year old dachshund) thinks its some kind of scooby snack or something. When the glider makes his pencil sharpener sound he (the dog) gets all kinds of worked up and excited.

I'll get some pics up soon. Im working on hand training the glider so that he is comfortable around me and dont have to worry about him leaping to the floor trying to make a mad dash with the dog in hot pursuit trying to figure out what in hades has invaded his home.

Yep, that the one. They are awesome little things. They take a little time and patience to get them to bond and such but once they do they are pretty affectionate and loyal animals.

Im going to try and build a cage for it this weekend if not sooner. The one its in now is kinda small.

My brother in law has like 3 or 4 of them. They are awsome little creatures. Good lick with your training. I know you'll be happy with the little guy.

Well I havent seen any recipes yet for glider on a stick, but I'll keep an eye out and let you know. I guess I have my co-pilot for Branson next year.

I got some pictures of him tonight but its getting too late to mess with putting them up on line. My wife said I should call him Sugar Daddy since its a male Sugar Glider, LOL.

I found out they like honey, A LOT!!!

While doing a little reading on these little guys, I came across this:

YouTube - Sugar Gliders as Pets : The Drawbacks of Sugar Glider Ownership

Worth listening to with good info for anyone who may also consider one as a pet. Doesn't bother me much since I'm used to high maintenance pets.

Edit: And this one for how a tip on handling them:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imnpp...eature=related

Man did it sound pissed at the end, lol. Yeah, the girl can be annoying with "umm", but it's helpful info.

Oh yeah, you definitely have to be ready to spend some time with them and prepared for the so called high maintenance, which doesnt bother me much either. I spent some time researching them before getting one so I knew what I was getting into.

Ive also got all the food, and its not that time consuming to fix and you just make a batch of it and freeze it and dole it out each evening and its good to go.

If you have to choke it out like she did and it makes that pissed off sound, video it.

Nah, but seriously. Seem like a really cool pet. If I was in a job where I wasn't faced with four month deployments every 18 months or so, I might get one.

Oh dude, its done nothing but make that sound everyday I come home and try and wake it up. Go figure. And yes, I have had to grab it behind its head like that as it likes to climb up me to my head and then proceed to leap off and glide away and I have to chase it down before the dog figures out its loose.

I guess Id make a similar sound if some big fat dude chased me down and put me in a head lock and then tried to wrap me up with something. Id be screamin' bloody murder like a little girl.
