Got bored so decided to make a thread. Post what you did and work today (try and post pics if you can). thought this would be cool too see the different things we all do at work.

    so ill start..

Some of you already know i work in a Mustang Restoration shop, this is what i did today

i pulled an engine and tranny out of a 1969 Ford Galaxie 500XL. the engine was a 390 2v. this was the second engine i pulled buy myself. first engine i pulled was in a 1967 Mustang coupe 289 factory 4 barrel car "A-code".

    so here it goes

car was sitting back further i pulled it up more so i had more room and could reach electric and an air line out from the shop

and this is the engine 390

raised it up with the forklift after i removed the radiator and a few other lines

went under and chopped off the exhaust and unbolted a few thing (removed drive shaft etc.)

getting ready to hook up the engine to pull it out

    and here we go

    and this is the engine

lol the engines going into a 67 fast back or atleast some of the parts are the fastback already has a factory 390, not sure if my boss is swapping out the whole engine or not. we just pulled the engine before he scraps the Galaxie

we dont always use the forklift only on cars that are getting scraped or are no good. the forklift doesn't grip the engine to well and there is always a good chance it might come falling down lol
it would be better if we had a custom attachment for it we might make something for it one day who knows

and my bosses car its an Evo with mods needs some work he will probably be selling soon

you burn a hole in the tip of one fork and then thread the chain through the hole, (or separate chain with a hook for the other chain, through the hole, seen it all different ways) no more worries about it sliding off the fork lift.

    cool job.

Didn't do anything to exciting this week. Last week we had about 380 Model A Fords in town(Model A Ford Club of America). I worked on about 20 of them, even put a motor in one. The guy was driving in from North Carolina(to upper michigan) when his overdrive went out. Still tried to go 60 to keep up with his buddies and killed his motor. Good times.

Robotic arms anyone?? Just happened to snap a few pics today. About 140 total getting installed to perform various jobs from welding to clamping to moving product from one place to another, or basically anything we program it to do. Pretty cool job!

Sorry, its cruel reality of it. It gives me and many more jobs. And were bringing a plant back to life which will produce alot of jobs in the area which here in the detroit area is very much needed. I understand what you mean tho. No hard feelings.

ever play with one of those? We have multiple robots in our shop for welding. I started to write welding programs with them, I thought it was going to be alot harder then what it was to write a program.

Nah, weve got robot programmers come in and program them. (Might be getting into that later in the year). But yeah, its pretty cool stuff and not too difficult.
