Ok im somewhat new here wtf is op...

Alright guys, lets calm down a bit. We can argue this matter until the end of time and opinions aren't going to change. Yes, he was wrong for what he did. He came on here and amitted it to us. I am sure what ever the outcome, he will learn his lesson. I hope he doesn't get the worst. I would hate to see some one so young get a bad record so soon in his life. A suspended license for a while would probably not be a bad idea. Most of what we are telling him is not to be hard on him for what he did, but to say we have been there and the consiquences are not worth it. As they say, live and learn. The biggest thing is to live, have fun and be responsible for your actions. So in the end, he knows he was wrong.
Uh first of all it's .02, and while yes I would be pissed at him, it wouldn't be because he had a .02 bac. Maybe you don't understand what it is like to blow a .02, have you ever measured your bac level before with a real breathalyzer? Well I have quite a few times with a couple friends of mine (one has a state trooper as dad and he let him take it to a party one nightwhy should someone else stand up for his mistake...cmon dude i bet u would feel 110% different if his 0.2 driving killed a family member of urs), anyway we were able to keep track of what our BAC levels were. After one beer my BAC was at .04, and I'm even a lightweight and yet I didn't even feel remotely buzzed let alone impaired even in the slightest bit. Seriously a .02 BAC is ****ing nothing at all.
drinking is stupid.
drinking and driving is asking for death. alcohol fixes nothing, no one benifits from it, especially when the person drinking is befind a 3500lb steel cage moving 70mph.
Yes I'm quite aware of what the legal limit is and you would have known this if you read my original post, dumb ass. I said:
Basically you guys were saying that he deserves to get a DUI and whatever else they could charge him with, like he had committed murder or something. Yes it was technically illegal (zero tolerance bull****), but seriously the only difference in this situation between him getting a felony and him getting let off scott free is his age. Is underage drinking really so bad that he deserves to get stuck with a felony for it? Honestly he didn't do anything morally wrong or put anyone else in danger and you're trying to make it sound like he should rot in jail. I'm merely trying to point out that you and a couple other people are being total ****ing pricks and are too damn narrowminded to take your head out of your own ass and look at it through another person's perspective. ToolShame on you people for thinking he deserves this, when had he been over 21, his actions would have been deemed legal.
1. He's under age and drinking
2. He's drinking and driving
How do you figure that he didn't put anyone else in danger? Because he got lucky and didn't run into anyone. That's like saying he shot at someone but he missed so he learned his lesson and won't try to shoot anyone else in the future and shouldn't be charged with anything. Why don't you take a good look at some of the drivers training material where underage drivers wheren't doing anything morally wrong while they were drinking and driving, reguardless of the amount, and weren't so lucky OR take a look at the statistics on drivers who started out drinking and driving in their teen years who later in life knew how to drive drunk on the roads because they had been doing it for so long.
I hope you don't have children that you care about because with an attitude and standards like yours we will be reading about them doing stuff like this in the future and hopefully they will be as lucky as he was.
Your being the tool right now. And I know where your coming from growing up in the country, in highschool we would cruise the gravel roads drinking and think that it was the coolest thing to do, take the backroads home and you'll be fine... etc. Then I eventually grew up.
A DUI isn't the end of the world for this kid, but it could have been for someone else, thats why there is a law there and it states zero tolerance. And a .02 isn't bad until you realize that the breathalizers aren't accurate every time. On top of that, I've seen plenty of people who were drinking all day and go to blow and blew .05 or really low numbers. I've personally drank heavily for 6 hours one night, then blew a .00 after we got busted once. I've been busted quite a few times but never for OWI/DUI. I have a court record to back that up.
All people handle their alcohol differently, no matter what they blow. One of my roommate is a prime example, he's 240lbs. and drinks 2 beers and he slurs his speech and gets teary eyed. It's pathetic. He'd probably fail a field sobriety test and blow a .01
On another note, a kid I knew personally decided to end his life with a gun after getting a DUI earlier that night (his sister brought him home from jail). He was still in High School and a popular kid, here is a picture of him. It was totally unexpected.
I could go on for days of stories about DUI's, like I said my high school class had more than 30 convictions in the first year after graduation. No matter what you think, DUI's should be a thing of the past, but it is a very present problem. It's not worth it.
I can't say I'm sorry about you drinking & driving. I was hit by a drunk driver in 1997. He hit my car and left us there in the middle of the road like nothing had happend. I had 4 kids with me, 2 were mine and 2 I was babysitting for. I have NO sympathy for anyone who gets behind the wheel after drinking, no matter how little you may have drank.
I guess i'm late here, but it seems to me there are 2 kinds of people posting to this thread... The people that thought about what might have happened, and the people don't care because it didn't... People that go through life wondering what harm their actions may cause get called alot of things... They get told to relax alot, or told how stupid they are... Funny thing is the no harm no foul people get all that same stuff... But they also occasionally kill someone... Hmm...
