A friend of mine dropped his 2008 World Rally Blue STI off to me for a week to detail it. I've always loved this color and can't wait to have one of my own.
Process used:
1. Washed whole car with Dawn
2. Cleaned engine bay with Simple Green
3. Removed each wheel from the car, cleaned inside and out, cleaned calipers, reinstalled and properly torqued
4. Claybarred entire car (including painted portion of wheel wells)
5. Touched up all chips and scratches
6. Polished using Zaino ZPC with an orange Lake County pad on my PC7424
7. Waxed with Collinite 845 Insulator wax (new favorite stuff, last longer than multiple coats of Z-2/Z-5 Pro, easier to use and less expensive, still adds great gloss and depth to the paint)
8. Waxed door jambs, hatch jamb, under the hood, painted portion of wheel wells, headlights, tailights, etc
9. Windows cleaned inside and out with Invisible Glass, outside of all windows and mirrored Rain-X'ed
10. Interior cleaned, stains removed where necessary, dash protected with 303
11. 303 applied to tires and all under-hood plastic and rubber
12. Wheels sealed with wheel protectant spray
13. Attention to detail in every part of my work
It turned out well and it sucks that the weather has been crappy since he picked it up, but I know that it's going to continue to clean up nicely.
