    Here's the deal:

Girlfriend had been driving my 1996 Ford GT for about 12 year now and has 220,000 miles on it.

    Cosmetic problems:
Damage to both front and rear bumpers
Driver side body side molding missing
    Driver side sun visor missing
    Scratches by spoiler
A few rims starting to rust
    Cracked windshield
    Excessive dog hair in upolstery

    Mechanical Problems:
Needs some kind of throttle sensor to prevent stalling and rpm reving

Kelly Blue Book puts a value of about $1,400 on it, but I don't think anybody in their right mind would buy it for that.

I am thinking of just donating the car to carsforbreastcancer in indiana, get a $500 or so tax deduction and just get it off the drive, we got her a new 2012 Chevy Malibu LT this past friday.

Anything wrong with donating the car, is it a hassle, is it a scam, is a rip off, any help would be appreciated.

    thanks
    TC

From what I gather, it is a valid organization.

Here is a general summary about how you should go about donating the car. How to Donate Cars for Breast Cancer | eHow.com

Call them ask any questions or concerns you may have. If they try to veer questions than it is probably not the best.

But.... on their FAQs... I came across this mistake.

    5. Do you take cars working or not?
We will take your car weather it is running or not.

    Wtf if car weather?

    And smile it's Blacktooth Grin!

most any running car is worth $1000 on craigslist still.

Toss some spit shine on it, consider the sensor replacement (post the codes and stuff up here and we could help with that), and get her sold for real cash.

Yeah, when the car was running properly before its latest issue, it was still a nice a little car, we have a mechanic friend who is trying to get the sensor part it and then afterwards will post it on craigslist for us, its just that he does everything slower than molasses due his family and job obligations which i understand but I just want the car off the drive before it starts snowing, which in the chicagoland area could be about a month from now.

Not sure if you are serious or not, I would certainly take a $1,000 for it, we were the only owner, its never been in an accident and we have the clean title, its brilliant red with the 24V overhead cam V6.

We are in northern indiana about a 1/2 hour south of chicago.
