That's right .. the weather predictors got this one right. Heavy snow..down trees, power lines you name it. This one hit the area harder than the tornado we had in the spring, harder than the earthquake from this summer and harder than the hurricane that brushed past us recently.

New Englanders are used to some tree damage, a crapload of snow (like last years 6-8 feet) and we ensure it becasue the rest of this stuff doesn't usually hit us.

Luckily I've been taking down trees in the yards the last few weeks and most of the bad stuff was gone. Also some of the questionable ones were thinned out and didn't have much left.

In Enfield we got 15inches of the wet slushy stuff that sticks to everything with leaves still on the trees. Now it looks like an war zone.. trees all over yards, houses and roads, power lines all over the place. And best of all, apparently the main feed for this town is sitting at the bottom of the river, which requires special crews to fix and ... they are 7 days away. Although some parts of town are being restored, clearly ...I'm a fan of the backup plan as it's bringing some stuff back online. Gas lines are pretty nuts..

Hoping to have power back in a week or less.

Got a couple pics of a tree or two in the yard. Keep in mind that I already took down most of the trees that were issues.

    Afternoon

neighbors yard (those were apple trees)

Back to my yard.. this tree was just cleaned of any branches that might have hit the house. And one of the main leads stripped a good amount off. This one is history soon as the tree won't recover.

Got a lot more tree time before it's winter to clean this up.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I hate trees near the house and in the yard. Too many leaves, too much cleanup, too many obstacles when drunk mowing. Been taking them down and ...well. Mommy Nature helped out.

The pics I posted are nothing in comparision to most of the local area. You lose count of lines and trees. Trees are still littering the roads.. Local grocery store got a generator delivered the other night and well.. it's business as usual. So food isn't an issue.

Janet and the neighbors are loving way I over bought a dual burner camping stove this spring.

20 lbs of gas, plus the regular grills we have.. it's easy cooking.

neighbors have a generator and we've been hanging out.

    That really sucks, man.

We have local tree trimming companies out there in your area helping out, too. I think most of those dealing with power issues have AEP (Amish Electric Power) for their service provider - big surprise. Locally, we hear the weatherman predicting a storm in a couple days and the AEP customers are already starting to lose power, just in anticipation of it.

It's sunny and 50 degrees here in the pacific NW. Although I sometimes miss the random blizzards of the NE. Gotta drive to the mountain or the volcano to see snow here.

Only if you live on the wrong side of the mountains, although we don't get snow like that, **** that nonsense.

All I had to do to get out was hop in the Silverado and press the "Go Anywhere I Want" button. Although there were/are trees blocking roads.

Buddy nearby got power back last night and I borrowed his generator. He borrowed one during Irene as they didn't have power for a week or more. Then he bought this one, a Poulan Pro 6600.

Didn't exactly wire it perfectly, but it's wired, mains and 220's (dryer and stove) are off. The rest is on and seems 100%. All I really cared about was the furnace. Cable/internet should be down for a while, neighbors have a line laying on the ground by them. The satelite dish is working like a champ though.

Now the biggest concern is finding fuel. Which seems to be easier and easier. All the stations that do have power are getting a delivery or two a day it seems.

man you guys got hit hard up there, i only got like 6 inches, lost power for about 20 hours.

my lights went out, so i went to the window to see who else was out, and saw the best damn light show, the transformer 2 blocks a way was shooting red white and blue 60 feet into the sky!

i went to hang in the car and drive around a bit to survey the damage, and all i saw in the distance was more transformers blowing up, neat to see, but really sucks have happen.

good luck till the power comes back, and lock that generator up, around here it would disappear for sure lol
