Just got through working on my 95 Bonne. After fighting w/ some accel. issues for the last week and a belt that was squealing like mad I had to do something.

Now, the PO assures me (with receipts to back it up) that Dobbs had changed the plugs, wires, and belt about 25K ago. I get the belt off and it's so covered in oil from the leak that they didn't fix that its impregnated the entire backside of the belt and is cracked on the inside. Looks to have way more than 25K on it. Cleaned off all the pulleys and new belt goes in. Nice and quiet now. (Thanks to BillBoost for the motor mount trick )

I pull the rear 3 plugs and see they are Delco 606's, which is right. BUT- the gap on all 3 rear plugs was around .72! The front 3 are gapped beyond .80 (this is as far as my gauge goes). No wonder it was running like a dog, even for an SE.

Slap new TR55's in there w/ a set of Delco wires and fires right up just like my GT. Barely even turns over and its running. Smooth as silk.

Strange thing is that only 2 of the spark plug boot sheilds were on the wires. And the condition of the wires looked ok, but 2 of them did not match the rest. Go figure.

So basically what I have is some receipts for new stuff from Dobbs, but got old plugs (dare I think maybe original?), and they just changed enough of the wires to make it run again and sent it on its way. Oh, and they blamed the oil on belt on the VC gaskets that they pointed out. Really?? Did you even look at this car seeing as how everything is dry on the top half? The only thing that was leaking badly was the pan gasket and I just changed that when I did the CKPS and balancer. Now there is nothing slinging oil everywhere. I can't believe they get away with this kind of stuff.

Moral of the story don't believe Dobbs, double-check their work to see if they replaced/fixed what they bill you for, and in the end just do your own work on your car. Now my Bonne is truly in, up, fixed, out!
