I simply had to get a 4-door. Have a 7 month old daughter and getting a car seat in a 2 door was a PITA.

Don't know why, but I wanted a GP. I wanted a car that was 4 door and performed well, come to find out they have a V8 version - I was sold.

I'd sold my sho and wanted something with a sc 3800 in it and was tired of driving my caravan. I found a grand prix buried in about three feet of snow and had to wait three weeks to go see it so the snow would melt. Drove it once and loved it. Paid to much but i'm pretty happy with it.

I had a buddy of mine get one in 02 when we were seniors in high school. He got a 2000 GTP and man that car was QUICK!!! I got to drive it a few times. Fell in love right away. It was way better then my 96 GP SE. But I got married shortly after high school and one thing lead to another and never really could afford to get one. Wanted one badly though. Then last summer me and my wife had our first daughter. I had a 94 F150 she has a 02 Cavalier Z24. Neither of which was great for hauling around kids in. So we decided that when we got our income taxes done we would buy a new family car. So a friend of my parents had a NICE 94 suburban that they wanted to get rid of. This thing was super cherry. No rust no tears in the seats and low miles. Only had 115k on a 350. I KBB'd it and it booked for like 4k. I said ok we can swing that. I went to look at it. Liked it. Talked price. They said they would take 2k for it. I said DONE. I drove it for 2 months. Loved it. But gas was killing me. $120 a week just back and forth to work. It had to go. But with the BB value being so high I thought i might try to get a GTP finally. Well shortly after I started looking around I found someone with a red 97 GTP for trade for a Suburban. I test drove it. It has/had some issues. But nothing to bad. So I swapped them for it. And I still LOVE this car....

Totaled my 1993 Ford Probe (worst car in the world) in 1997 was going through a lot of crap from ex girlfriends, jobs, arrested for something I did not do and spending $20,000 on lawyers proving it (thanks Colleen you b***h) I would have killed myself but I refused to make that many people happy at once etc. Driving a cheap rental car for about 3 months, my Dad and and I never had a great relationship, well I guess he wanted to fix that because I found out he had been shopping around trying to find a car he thought I would like and could afford. Called me up one day said; "Meet me at Star Pontiac theirs some cars o the lot seem your style." Well First thing he brought me two were the only two GP coupes on the lot I loved them both but one had a hud and hidden antenna and I love toys. Found I could not afford the payments Dad asked what I could afford a month I told him, he bought the car and I was to pay him back over 5 years. After 3 years Dad said; "forget the rest of the payments." I still have it and a great memory and we are doing better. Thanks Dad

Have Cobalt SS, don't wanna drive it in the winter. Start looking for a winter car. I work at a car dealership, one comes in on trade in, I grab it immediately and inspect it, looked good enough to me, I paid cash for it the next day. Great DD/winter car.

It had a V6 that wasn't plagued with problems. (2.7 chrylser, 3.1 GM).

    Wasn't a four banger.

Was automatic. (Wrong I know, wasn't 'allowed' to have a manual)

Wasn't a full size.... Hate full size cars.

And best of all.... in my price range.

Most imports that fit the above were out of my price range or had too many miles/too old for the price.

In 2003 i was a 10 Year old kid, and my dad had just sold his 1999 Grand Prix GT. He Loved that car so he decided to upgrade. A Brand new 2004 Grand Prix GTP Comp G with every single option possible. At that moment i fell in love. The car was to be mine. Every time i brought it up however he shot my idea down. Too much power for a 16 year old kid to have. So he bought me a nice 04 Chevy Colorado in 2009. It was a great car, but no Grand Prix. I never let him forget that i love the GTP either. So finally last summer he decided he wanted another new car, and went with a G8. I don't think he could part with the GTP though. I think it was his favorite car that he ever owned. Even now i know that he would Pick it over any G8 if given the option. He told me if i respected the car and payed for all the gas and insurance that it was mine. And wala. With 130000 miles it became mine, and i was true to my promise. I respect the car than anything i have ever owned. I will never sell it, someday it will sit in my garage as a classic collectors car. Forever live the Grand Prix.

So heres what went down. When i got my license at 16 i was driving my parents vehicals when they werent. (My moms 2001 olds intregue, My dads 2001 monte carlo ss or his 2005 Silverado). Finally he got tired of me always usin his truck and stuff. My sister (whos 5 years older than me) had gotten a 1978 Olds Cutlass Cruizer Station Wagon when she turned 16 from my great grandma for free and then she bought a 2002 olds alero for an upgrade. That caused the wagon to sit in our yard for about a year. I was positive i was goin to get my dads 91 ford f150 that had been sittin in our yard but then one day he decided to get the wagon fixed up. Im not goin to say it was an awsome car but it was fun in the winter cause it was a rear wheel drive. It was also fun to drive in general once u ignored that i averaged bout 8 MPG! I was kinda bummed cause kids at school would pick on me for having a gutless 260 ci v8. So i started to shop around and then the wagon lost the master brake cylander or somethin like that and my dad said f-it its goin to the scrap yard. Top choice was a 4x4 Chevy Pickup from the 90s for my next vehical. My mom wanted me to get a decent fuel car. Ive always liked the Grand Prix body style. I looked at every car on craigslist for like 4 months. Then one day my dad told me about this Grand Prix GT sedan that a dealer was askin $4000 for. He said they knocked $2000 off because it hailed and got damaged. However i was also lookin a a 2002 Mustang base model that a guy at my work had for $4000. I went and looked at it the Grand Prix and fell in love. It felt better to drive the gp than the mustang plus in the winter id actually be able to stay on the road too with the gp. I gave them the money and the car was all mine back in august of 2010 with 120,000 miles. It currently has 134,000 miles and runs good. It still doesnt have like anything aftermarket on it but hopefully that will change. (I wanted the supercharged one but my dad didnt want me to get it cause the premium is more expensive but hey i cant complain,he says i gotta pay for my own gas but he basically always pays for it. lol)

Sorry bout the long story but i felt every detail was necessary even tho it probly wasnt. lol

I had been looking for a car for a few months so I could park my Stealth. I kept seeing GP's in my searches. Toward the end of February I blew another differential in the Stealth and instead of fixing it I decided that was God's way of telling me it was time to park it.

Long story short the owner of the company I work for, Mark, has a dealer liscense and I asked him if he had any local dealer buddies that he might recommend. He told me where to go and actually called the guy for me.

I got to the dealership and there sat a black 07 GT. Took the car for a ride and knew it was not necessarily what I wanted, but what I needed.
Dealer cut me a knocked off $500, because apparently I came HIGHLY recommended. A few days later I was able to get the car and have been driving it since.

Had a 99 Alero, didn't want to stick money into it anymore, so I got rid of it and bought my GP.
