To make your HD2 get ANYWHERE near it's potential, you honestly have to do this:

[GUIDE] Flashing Your First HD2 NAND Android Rom [For Newbs] - xda-developers

I tried it already once but it didn't work, it did end up bricking my phone (meaning it wouldn't go past the HTC screen) but the solution was simple, all you have to do is put the old OS back on and it's like nothing happened.

I have an HD2 and I am waiting till my friend is free before we try it again, but if I manage to run Android on the HD2 before you do, I'll let you know how it is.

Did you bother looking at the link I posted? If the link itself isn't exactly what you're looking for, then by all means, browse their site. It may be outdated, and if it is, just get it back up on to date. These guys are constantly doing all they can to keep things up to date and are always releasing new updates. You just have to follow those that interest you and stay up to date with them.

If it's already got Android on it why not just load a custom recovery on it and flash a new rom?

Rom... are you actually talking about a recovery image? First you need root, then install a recovery image. Once done so, reboot phone back into recovery mode, make a NAND backup of your current ROM.... then fully wipe then flash a new ROM. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up.

I just can't do much stuff on XDA... I'm banned till the end of July. lol.

    And smile it's Blacktooth Grin!
